Professor Seely is easily one of friendliest, most knowledgeable teachers at Eastern. Definitely recommend taking any class taught by him - if not for the subject matter, then just to have him as a teacher. Wonderful guy.

Seely is wonderful! Personally, I dislike Linguistics as a subject. However, he made it very interesting. He is super nice and incredibly easy to reach. He gives great examples and encourages participation. Seely just about knew all of the class' names by the end of the second week. I recommend him 100%

After a week of being in Dr. Seely's class, I decided to pursue a major in Linguistics. The man is funny and helpful, and he cares about his students. He has easily become one of my favorite instructors at EMU. As long as you keep up on the reading, you'll be able to pass. Even if it's just the intro class, you won't regret taking a class with him.

I was weary when registering for this class but Professor Seely makes it fun and interesting. He puts notes on canvas and articles on canvas that help a lot with class. He is very clear with his expectations and what will be on exams. If you pay attention and read you will do well.

Seely is the best professor I've ever had at EMU. He is there for his students and loves what he does. He makes class and even the homework fun. He always keeps an open mind. There was no textbook for my class. There were a few tests and a few homework assignments, but it was more about learning than a grade.

Dr. Seely made me wish I'd become a linguistics major, if only so I could take more of his classes. I'm not sure why we're asked to rate "hotness," but yeah, he is totally hot. He's also incredibly clear, willing to answer any and all questions, and stay with you until you get it.

He's the best teacher in the world the class is not hard because he teaches you so well so it feels easy, this is the second time I've taken him I wish I could take him more. Ask him for any help at all in his class or others he's such a great person always willing to help. You can retake exams and redo homework as well as get extra credit

Seely is of the best instructors I had at EMU. Respectful, clear, helpful and very understanding. May be not so organized, but the notes and review sheets he posts diminish any vagueness. He gives a review sheet for each test, and forms Qs from those sheets! So easy! I'll take any other class with him as I can. Highly recommended!

As a Linguistics minor at EMU, I took a few classes with Dr. Seely, including a Language Acquisition class and Modern English Grammar. Dr. Seely is, by far, one of the most genuinely invested and helpful professors on campus. He'll never demean students and he takes all questions/comments seriously. You'll work hard, but you'll learn a ton.

I really liked Daniel. He made a night class fun by bringing us candy and keeping us entertained. You can retake 2 of the first 3 exams. The only thing that sucks is 75% of your grade comes from the exams. There's a group project, but it's pretty fun. I'm not an LING major, but I found the subject interested through his instruction.

Very down-to-earth explanations, very sympathetic to college studenthood. Allowed for retaking of bombed exams (except last one - end of semester thing). My only complaint is that he didn't do anything about people screwing around and watching TV on their laptops and whatnot during class - extremely distracting.

Attendance was not mandatory, but I still came everyday. I really wish I became a linguistics major, so I could take more classes with him. He's so great, just needs to stop wiping the chalk all over his pants. :) Oh, no text books, tests over notes and info provided online, and final project over anything you want (really).
