I made an A in this class with very little effort, study the night before test and so on. He does a very good job of weeding out the kids who shouldn't be in college, and I'm very glad that there are professors who are willing to do that instead of passing everyone just becasue it's a freshman level course, I say get the slower kids out quick.

I actually really liked this class. I enjoyed learning the material. He gives you all the notes you need on the powerpoint. I thought his tests were decent if you just studied a little. I ended up with a B in the class only because I forgot to do one of the wed. night quizzes. He's from the UK so he has a different take on things which was nice.

HORRIBLE! Doesn't follow the syllabus and does whatever he freaking wants. Way too much reading and teaching to do on your own. He purposely thinks of questions for tests that will result in bad grades. I attended ALL classes and studied EVERY DAY and still ended up with a D! I think he gets joy out of seeing students struggle and doing badly!

Granted I'm not a fan of History, but I thought this class was difficult. There is a lot of reading, and he does not really try to help you. Quizzes are not bad online, but the tests are killers. Get out if you can!

Go to class and you will be fine. He picks the most insignificant things out of the chapter to put on the test and the key points of the lecture. Even if you don't like history you will be intrigued by the professor's knowledge. The class is very easy if you put forth the effort. If you fail to study hard or go to class you will fail miserably.

Very interesting lecturer (& I don't like history class). I learned a lot. Take good notes & study them & the map for the exams. You can get away with not reading the chapters of the reading assignment if you just study the key terms for each chapter. I stopped reading the whole chapters halfway through the course & got a B in the class.

I passed and never went to class. I'm sure if i had gone it would have been alot easy. Word of advice if you take Szechi, Get about 5 or 6 people together every Wednesday night to take the quizes. Go one person at a time and assign the questions to everyone....I did this the ladder half of the semester and never made below an 80.

There is a great deal of studying involved but if you review the notes, GO TO CLASS, and read the assigned chapters then its super easy. I did all of the above and came out with an A on every test. The online quizzes though are a pain because I tended to forget about them.

I don't get the ppl saying that this class was hard. His lectures were very interesting and he made jokes alot (maybe some people just didn't get them b/c he has a very British humor). Anyway, I thought his tests were easy, I made an 88, 90, and 88 on them. Just read the ch's and the notes. The only bad part was the quizzes online (easy to forget).

VERY HARD... What you hear in class is only about 20% of what ends up on the test. And even if you read every bit of the chapters he assigns...you still may not have a shot in hell of making above a C on any of his tests. This class is the WORST CLASS I HAVE TAKEN in Auburn. DONT TAKE HIM

BE PREPARED TO READ MORE MATERIAL THAN YOU'VE EVER READ IN YOUR LIFE... BECAUSE HE MAKES IT VERY CLEAR THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS THAT HIS LECTURES (which are, in fact, extremely interresting if you dig history) AND THE READING MATERIAL HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.

No, I have never studied more for any class...I would study for weeks til the wee hours of the morning and the highest grade I made on a test was an 82%..I learned a lot but if that isn't shown in your grade what does it matter? He doesn't round either so if you make a 81.78...thats what you get not an 82,

This guy wasn't that hard, just go to class, and learn to take good notes. He also might assign chapters for a test that won't mesh with the notes, but if you read the chapter you will notice that it might have been from his notes from a previous test. Weekly quizzes are easy...

Expects way too much from freshmen students, most of which aren't even pursuing history degrees. Hard to study for his tests because there are weekly quizzes you have to study for and those materials aren't on the tests. Very knowledgeable indeed but not necessarily helpful.

I have always gotten A's in history. It was always my better subject. But now I am stuck in Szechi hell known as world history you learn and know, but you still fail out of the class. Thanks to this man, I know more about history than ever, but I have a lovely D to prove it. Thank you for my amazing GPA!
