He is a rather good professor. Very patient lecture and answering questions. But, he also gives too many homework, especially when it approaches the final. It is a lot of burden to finish all his project and homework in time at the end of the semester.

His tests are multiple choice and his materials are basically from power point slides. Lecture notes are not enough to get a decent grade. Need to read and understand the concepts from the book. The finals were pretty challenging. Decent grader, projects are helpful.

One of my least favorite classes I have ever taken. The workload was insane -- weekly labs that took 4-8 hours to complete (why this class doesn't have an official graded lab section I don't know). Class is taught at a very high speed and it is very easy to get lost and fall behind. He was funny at times but intimidating to talk to.

Probably the least professional professor I've ever taken at ASU (graduating senior). The way he treated other adults in the class like children made me uncomfortable. He never answered a single one of my emails. He holds freshmen level team exercises almost every class. He has no working knowledge of PowerWorld and teaches by powerpoint.

Highly disappointed with Dan. The material is difficult as with many upper div class, but to have cluttered power points and then recite verbatim that mud creates a difficult learning environment. I heavily disapprove of the attitude towards the other adults in the room. Because of this, many of us dropped the course at the end.

Great professor. He really likes the subject and explains concepts very well. Seems intimidating at first but he's a very cool guy and has a good sense of humor. Class requires a lot of work. Be ready to spend many many hours on labs and homework. The course does a very good job at showing you how concepts build on each other.

Good professor. Make sure to attend class. Do not be tardy or else you will get yelled at. Homeworks are a bit time consuming but he gives all of the answers to each question (not solutions). Make sure to allow enough time to do the simulation labs. Some of the later labs take approximately 5-6 hours.

He's very organized & explains concepts thoroughly. Lots of class participation & teamwork. He & his TA's go around class to help & he's great at answering questions. TONS of homework, so make sure you set aside enough time to get it done! He's friendly & helpful, but also strict with policies and tardiness. Best prof possible for this class!!!

Nice guy, heavy on Power Point (bad), heavy on in-class work (good), light on clarity of the projects (also bad), multiple choice exams (also also bad). Make sure you work in a group and go visit him in office hours for the projects!

This was a pretty intense class. You can see he is passionate about this subject but it doesn't make the class much easier. There are two tests and two quizzes. The homework is so long it takes several hours to actually do it. There is also labs that take so much time! Lots of work! This class is easy to pass but hard to get an A or B.

Dr. Tylavsky is great at explaining some of the more complicated concepts involved in the class. Showing up to class isn't mandatory, but it really helps.

One of the hardest classes i've taken with time consuming labs, but i really enjoyed the class. As long as you work with your group in and out of class (occasionally) you will do well.

He definitely knows his stuff and does everything in his power to teach you. Dr. Tylavsky created the CD that is required for this class so needless to say he is the best. He goes over a lot of material during the lectures but it is all relevant. Do not take him if you are not willing to put forth the effort.

Overall, pretty solid teacher. requires you to print out 90 pages of stuff at the beginning of the semester OR use your labtop. USE THE LABTOP, never once used the printouts. Lots of work every week but provided templates for the lab reports. Keep on top of your work and make sure your circuts work and its an easy B, Work hard for that A.

Best teacher I've ever had! Although this is a pretty hard class with A LOT of work required (about 15-20 hrs a week), Tylavsky knows his stuff, is very clear and understandable, and as long as you pay attention (his lectures are very fast-paced) and do ALL of the work you will get an A

Amazing teacher, crystal clear in class. Written homework assignments are hard and sometimes tedious, while the labs are lots of fun, despite the extremely long reports. It's obvious he loves what he teaches. I knew nothing coming into the class, yet I barely had to study, as the labs and lectures provide enough information. HIGHLY recommended!

This is not a class that you can slack off in. Be prepared to work at least 15 hours a week on this class. As long as you do all the hw assignments and labs (which isn't an easy task), you should be able to get an A.

Tylavsky knows his stuff. Do not miss a class. His lectures are fast-paced and his style of teaching forces you to pay attention. If there are parts of his lecture that do not "click" right away, the weekly labs and lab reports will reinforce the material. Make sure you learn how to wire in the hardware lab (skill needed for final design project).

Very knowledgeable! Goes a little fast in lectures, but the homework and the labs (simulation and hardware, lots of extra credit) help a lot. Do everything! It will give you slack on the final. Only two tests and two quizzes, but the labs take up a lot of time. Don't take this with other strenuous courses. Part of the quizzes are in teams. Easy A.
