Prof. John cares about her students and is very helpful with things that do not relate to sociology. However, her lectures are irrelevant, unorganized, and confusing. The class was a waste of time. She is a kind person and friendly face, but I highly recommend NOT taking this class.

She assigned an impossibly large amount of reading, and her lectures were rambling and full of tangents that were very hard to follow. Authors we read often didn't back opinion up with fact. Good points were a manageable amount of assignments, she was very accommodating when I asked for an extension, and occasional small group discussions.

i had daphne as a prof and advisor several years ago (before we could rate online), but i think its worth posting to counter to negative reviews. she is not the most engaging lecturer, true, but she is excellent in smaller classes and a wonderful advisor and helpful one on one. don't let reviews of her large classes deter you from taking advanced

oh my god. i believe she thinks we're all in fifth grade. she explains things three time that never needed explanation. i think she's probably very nice, and even a well published socioligist, but i've been so bored.

Easily the worst course I took in college, easily the worst teacher I've ever had, and that includes K-12. Class only met about 2/3 of the scheduled time, the coursework was pathetically simple, and she's a TERRIBLE lecturer. Can't guide discussion. I had mono and only went to a couple of classes-- and I got an A+. Absolutely horrible.

unless you're already interested in Sociology, do not take this class. she is the antithesis of charismatic, and really does not explain things well at all... and while her essay grading and deadline policies may be friendly, her test grading is NOT.

She is very nice and good about deadlines but she's extremely dull. She'd have us read a fair amount but we would often spend the whole class talking about 2 pages of the text. She has good intentions and is an easy grader but her class definitely is not stimulating and you don't get the full breath of the subject matter

Daphne is a wonderful professor! her deadline policy for assignments is really relaxed, cause she knows you have other work to do, which is great. even though the subject matter-- social research methods-- wasn't breathtakingly intriguing, i loved the class, and her!

too many loudmouthed moronic freshmeat in the class. the class could've been more involved - a little too easy. the grading/assignment policy is more than nice - it meant that i could concentrate on the essays when i had the time, so they weren't rushed and actually thought out.

I would not recommend this class to anyone unless they are looking for a way to completly waste their tuition money. Yes she's nice and an easy grader but you won't learn anything. Class was always one giant tangent.

Boring, but the reading was good. I didn't learn much, but it's a very relaxed class if you need the credit. Very willing to shift deadlines and make the learning a more enjoyable experience. Sick/out more than several times. Clear, simple.

perfect, except that she's not a little too easy and you don't learn very much. attempts class discussion, but it's usually either irrelevant, or the 40 idiots who are there just because they need SS credit don't say anything. very easy with deadlines :)
