I respect Prof. Daphne's passion for literature and the study of dystopian societies. However, she goes extremely off-topic during her lectures. Participation is a must, and she will call on people. Despite encouraging students to express their conflicting opinions, she expects them to shape their opinions to fit her own. Please avoid this class!

In my humble opinion, Professor Patai is not good at all. She insults her students opinions, then claims to only be playing 'devil's advocate'. It's impossible to know when anything is due. Her lectures are random, not guided, and pointless. I don't recommend taking her classes.

ok I don't know what that other person is talking about...the final paper is 800-1500 words or 3-5 pages. someone's bitter. Anyway, the movies are interesting but long, she rambles forever and class discussions are rare, but she's very smart and passionate and the workload for this class was very minimal - some reading, and a few papers.

She is really difficult to please. At the end of the semester there will be a 10 page paper due that has to relate to the portuguese films that you have seen during the semester, and if they are not written by her then there is ni way that you will get a perfect score. Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!

I love her! She's so dynamic and the class is the best one I have ever taken! Utopian novels are facsinating! I love the discussion that goes on in this class its so involved. I don't know what these other ratings are all about but she is seriously great!
