I had Professor Dario A. Euraque for HIST-301: Biography as History in the Spring 2018 semester. He is a tough but fair grader. Be very prepared for class discussions and writing essays! I thought his Biography as History course was a treat, and highly recommend it.

Could not be more disappointed in a professor. I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere. He consistently cancelled classes, without discussing the material from these classes in the future, yet expected us to be able to write about it in our essays. Unnecessarily arrogant and difficult to listen to, also demeaning towards specific students.

The bottom line with Euraque is that he is a no-nonsense professor. I really didn't like him at first but over time I came to appreciate his "tough love" ways. You can't get a good grade if you slack off so do the work, hand it in on time and you'll be fine. His late work policy is a failing grade and he doesn't do extensions so watch out for that.

Comment:
Euraque is a professor that simply does not allow students to coast by. In some instances his insistence on a uniform answer with direct textual reference made class conversation more difficult and less engaging. The low grades students get on papers are a result of procrastination. If you want to get B+ or an A actually try.

Tough but fair teacher. He is not as bad as these reviews make him out to be and if you take the time to get to know him, he is very helpful with assignments. A lot of the class is based off the readings and the papers are straightforward and easy if you are a strong writer. See him after class, do the readings, and participate.

Can understand why some may not like him, but I felt differently. He is a stickler for things that all professors should be strict about, and this is likely the point of contention for most students. I appreciated it though. If you put an effort into writing well, and getting things in on time, you will be fine. He is actually a pretty good guy.

BEWARE: I have never worked so hard for a class and for a professor and still done so badly. Do not take a class with Dario. It doesn't matter how great a writer, in class participant, or general student you are. There is no method to his madness.

Very arrogant teacher. Puts his personal needs above the classes. Assigns four 10 page papers. Unless you want to major in this material do not take this class. Not a 101 level class.

One of the best professors I had at Trinity. Responsive, helpful, challenging... I worked hard in his class, which I took my senior year... was my 1st history class at Trinity and earned an A-. A grade I deserved and worked hard to achieve.. while learning a great deal in the process. Not a waste of time. Responds to messages online very quickly.

How does someone who gets As in 4 years of college Spanish, then As in 15 history classes at Trinity, get flunked by this man ? I saved him the joy (by bailing at the last second) of punishing me for single handedly funding Columbus' journey as an Italian. Capice ? Then he wanted to know where I was. They DO send them a list like the ER !

Smug, condescending, and chauvanistic. Don't even bother with him. It's like he is out to prove that he really does deserve this job by insulting his students and making them feel inferior. The sad part is that this guy would be way out of his league teaching shop at Sweet Valley High.

"uses a lot of guest lecturers...videos"? Sounds like a lazy, incompetent teacher if you ask me. Look around the department: why would anyone waste a credit with this guy? Plus his politics are so wacked he can't be taken seriously. Doesn't matter that he's not "warm and fuzzy" - lots of great profs aren't. What matters is that he's a mediocrity.

Euraque is not the warmest, fuzziest man alive, but he's really not as bad as people make him out to be. I dreaded taking this class, but it ended up being my favorite class of the semester. He uses a lot of guest lecturers and videos to support his points. A little advice: He is REALLY anal about grammar on papers. He will mark you down for it.
