Dr. Russell is THE best professor I have ever had the privilege to study under at WPU. She is kind, compassionate, and truly CARES about each of her students. You have to work to earn the grade but as long as you participate and do the assignments, it is nearly impossible to do poorly in her class. She's also lenient on due dates & brings snacks!

Dr. RUSSELL IS AN AMAZING MIND TO BE AROUND. I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM HER AND WOULD NOT BE THE TEACHER I AM TODAY WITHOUT HER MENTORSHIP. SHE OPENED MY EYES TO THE WORLD OF EDUCATION AND TAUGHT ME THAT I COULD USE MY GIFT OF TEACHING TO BE A CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE TEACHER. SHE IS A REAL GEM AND AN INSPIRATION TO MANY. I WAS VERY BLESSED IN HER CLASS.

I think she was excellent! I learned a lot from her class.I've even been in situations where I was having trouble and she taught me how to reach out to other professors and COMMUNICATE with them. Participation is a must, so don't think you can just come to class, not do anything and expect to pass the class even if you pass the final exam.

I'm not sure if Dr. Russell read these reviews and changed her entire approach to educating, but I have to say so far, Dr. Russell has become one of my favorite professors at WPU. She is kind, caring, open to constructive criticism, and prompt to respond to e-mails. The class has only just begun but I have already learned so much. I'd take her 10x

Dr. Russell used to scare me. She always seemed cold & not willing to help. She comes off very controlling during the first class. Assignments are not too difficult but the final project will take a lot of work. She will answer questions that you have, just ask! Lets students take control of the class; you to make the grading scale/cancel classes

Interesting and smart woman, but I certainly agree with the "anti-white" comments I've read. She also seemed to play favorites in the class and was VERY, VERY unclear. So make sure you triple check everything she says.

Avoid this woman like the plague. I entered the class excited to learn the subject material, but received 0 education. She is unclear, terrible grader, and reverse ****. Encourages by word free-thinking, but despises any attempts. I cannot say anything positive about my experience and, as a straight A student, she ruined my GPA. Save yourself!

She was a very dedicated professor. Her assignments and teaching style arent the greatest, but you still learn alot from her. The discussions are usually interesting. A midterm and a few short papers are required for her class as well as a video presentation. Overall, she was a good teacher even tho some of her assignments were not.

Dr. Russell is an excellent professor. Her class really helps prepare future teachers of English. She is NOT ****. Yes, she talks a lot about teaching social justice- but it is crucial that we do inform our students about social problems. I learned more in this class than any other, and she is one of the best professors i have ever had.

DR. Russell as she insists to be called, is ANTI-WHITE, spends the entire semester speaking about multi-culturism and race. She will not acknowledge that their ARE cultures other than black, white and spanish. White students in class feel very uncomfortable, some dropped out because of it. DID NOT LEARN A THING IN HER CLASS. WASTED TIME AND $$$

Ifound DrRussell to be a fair and enlightened teacher.Just because she doesnt teach like all the other tired educ teachers doesnt make her wrong it makes her innovative.If you want to be challenged and forced to work outside your comfort zone and if you really want to learn take this class with this professor. This class makes me want to drop out of the education program. I have learned nothing about teaching English/ Language Arts, however I did learn her views on social justice. She gives very unclear assignments and is not helpful. She acts as if she is so nice on the first day of class but then turns into a witch by the second class! GET OUT NOW!!!!!
