You'll learn lots from Darrell, especially if you skim read the textbook before class. He focusses on theory to help students understand the material. The final exam was fair, about the same as the tests (no surprises on the final). This is a tough course but it is possible to succeed with some extra work.

The course is very difficult but Professor Herauf does a very good job at making sure the students understand the material and continuously tries to improve his teaching. The final exam was extremely difficult so make sure you study hard and read the textbook for any extra clarification.

He teaches thoroughly to try and get you to understand the material, not just memorize. If you only memorize, this class will be hard. If you put a little effort in to understand though it becomes just fine.

Darrell lectures rather than use a systematic approach. So if you prefer to understand the 'why' rather than the 'how' then you will love his style. If you need step by step instructions, then I recommend you take accounting from a different prof. Reading the textbook prior to class helps significantly. The final exam was more than reasonable.

This is the best accounting professor that I have ever had at Carleton. His way of teaching, in my opinion, should be standardized across all disciplines, since he emphasized greatly on the basis and fundamentals, and let students apply those principles into real world situation. I feel extremely lucky to be under his instruction. Highly recommende

Lets just say this. If you're looking to do nothing but want an A, he's not your guy. However, when you grow mature a bit and start to care about how much you learn, then you will appreciate Darrel. He teaches hard subjects, so it won't be easy, attend class and read the book, and you'll do great. Very knowledgeable. But I agree, he can be rude!

Just horrible. The guy makes his tests to resemble to CA level one...and this is just the first intermediate acc't course offered!!! Thinks he's God. Talks about his kid a lot, not very helpful during office hours, can be rude. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Haha,nice up front, says he wants you to all get A's but im not so sure. The marks tell otherwise, usually test average is a low 50 until he bumps you up to about a mid 50, not even worth it. Seems that hes good teacher for 3001 since he wrote the book, but definitely try to get jacques for 2001 or you wont learn anything and youll get a bad grade

Terrible teacher. Spends alot of time talking about how good he is. Also has useless slides. During the class you think hes great until the exam when he screws you over. Class average usually a high 50 or 61. Dont listen to his marking scheme, hell give you whatever he wants no matter what you actually got. Be nice cause he has his favorites.

HE is the most amazing prof I have had so far. Makes you LOVE accounting and makes it so clear. If you want to learn a lot and pass your UFE take courses only with him. For those losers who did not like him, I can only say: have fun failing your UFE.

Great prof. He will make you work, but by the end of the year you will be amazed at how much you know. Tests focus on what is important, and he brings a lot of practical perspective to the class. Carleton needs more men and woman like this.

Good man, makes accounting exciting. Not sure how, but he does. He helped me to understand the theory behind the accounting, so I could make sense of it.
