Sadly he is the only option for all Microsoft certification classes in Kogod. Lets just say I'm glad this was a self-taught, 2 day class. Any more time/interaction with this professor would have really been a problem. He is exceedingly rude, unhelpful and impatient. Very discouraging and makes students very nervous going into the certification exam

Not helpful, very rude and condescending, I totally agree with the three comments below me, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Doesn't spend the time teaching, doesn't care if you come to class. Probably the rudest person I've ever met. He's ruining my MBA experience at Kogod, I never want him as a professor ever again. Shouldn't teach.

Wow. Hands down the worst Professor in Kogod, and quite possibly all of AU. I took the ITEC355 online summer class, and he wouldn't help for anything. I had a few questions, and I sent him a few emails to which he actually told me to not email him again. I am filing a proper complaint against him to the school. Where did my tuition dollars go?

I made the horrible mistake of taking Richard Gibson's summer course. Basically, this is how it works: you will read and learn the material all on your own. Need help? Something wasn't clear? Forget it. He is useless. If you e-mail him, he'll tell you to write on the discussion board, which he barely participates. DON'T TAKE HIM.

This is an easy class, but Gibson is unyielding on attendence, labs, and HW (even if you have a *legit* reason).He's a jerk on grading, but it's an easy class no matter who you take it with.

Had for ITEC 614/615 (becomes ITEC 610 in Fall). He is extremely fair, helpful, and flexible. Always available for office hours. He divides the class time in half, first half lecturing, and second half going over problems. You can leave after the first half if you don't want to do problems. I'd ignore the whiny undergrad who posted below me.

I don't understand why Gibson's rating is so low on this website. He is one of the fairest and flexible professors I have ever had. Lectures can be boring, but aren't most anyways--especially give him credit because he is lecturing about databases. Take him, put in the effort, and your DARS report will be fairly compensated.

If you have the opportunity to take Gibson at all, please don't miss it. Excellent professor, relaxed, and understands what qualifies as important material. Papers and assignments are open-ended, and his grading is relatively easy. He's a genuine nice guy, very accessible, and too fair. He encourages all different types of learning.

The class was the worst class I've had to take for Kogod. Professor Gibson, though, understands no one wants to be there. I had a block where we'd stay for a half hour lecture and then went to lab. He tries to make it interesting for the average student.

This is the worst class a Kogod student must take, but Prof. Gibson did not design it and he understands that much of the course material is pointless. He is very flexible and willing to help students get a high grade in the course. He also values student feedback on the course more than most profs. If you have to take the course, Gibson is not bad

This was the worst class I've taken in Kogod. The guy had class for half of the block, and then let us "do our own thing," meaning he was too lazy to continue teaching. Didn't stick to the syllabus, and I didn't learn anything. Avoid at all costs.
