Comment:

It feels that he genuinely does not care about his students. Even when the whole class was behind and failing, he didn't care. Was pessimistic and not helpful when tried to talk to him outside of class. Lazy, rude, unhelpful.

He was good at explaining stuff in class. The few times I did need help on something in lab, he was quick to help. I actually understood a lot of the concepts in 2060 that I missed in 2050 Would definitely take him again.

Dr. Rothe was very good. Tests were very straightforward and tested the knowledge learned in class. Lab 'reports' were given full credit if you attended the lab and completed it correctly, for the most part, during the lab period. Was always available by email for questions, and was forgiving with homework questions that didn't work out well.

If you read the book and listen in class you will do fine in this class. Professor gives plenty of examples and goes step by step through possible solutions to programming problems. Quizzes are sometimes hard since there are only 10-13 questions and if you get a few wrong you lose a lot of points.

Inconsistent in uploading important slide shows, did not provide students with resources (even when the textbook had absolutely nothing on what we were learning about). Teaches simple information, expects wide understanding in labs. Did not like helping students work through problems with their labs. Would not recommend.

He is a decent teacher. Don't expect an easy A, or an A at all for that matter. When you get into VHDL the labs get difficult if your not experienced with VHDL- get help from students. Rothe can be condescending when responding, and generally doesn't help one bit. He does go over stuff pretty well in class and grades fairly.

Very understanding professor. Textbook was $12 by professor's choice. Very willing to help and interested in the CS side of things(computer performance and optimization). Will thoroughly explain everything he can and email students later about what he can't. Very intelligent guy and I really do recommend the professor if you have the option.

If you listen in class and read the chapters, I can't imagine how you could do poorly. Sometimes he isn't as clear as he could be. Labs are usually given before lab period and you can leave early if you have it finished. See if you can get his lab on a Friday start your weekend early :)

One of the worst prof in MSOE. Every time I asked him a question he reply " honestly, I have no idea". His tests have nothing to do with what he says in class.

Fairly easy class. Labs are to be done before lab. After demo you can leave sometimes hour and a half early. Quizzes and tests were reasonable. Everything pulled from lecture. Would take again

Tough teacher. Easy HW. Labs are from Reyer's labs so get ahead of time from his website. Grading policy for labs was easy, get it done in lab and show him, then you get full points.If you didn't finish in lab, it was frowned upon. Tests were very hard but curved and not from homework. Had to read the book to do well on tests.

"All I care about is my class curve" were his words in our class.. ha! and not about students learning i guess.Not willing to help outside of class.will give assignments he hasn't even tried himself(& which turn out to be so insanely hard to do, that he cancels them midway!).Kudos on you're perfect class curve prof!good effort on ur side as a prof.

answers questions with "I honestly don't know" will frequently refuse to help you. "help" that is provided will make you want to stab kittens. hasn't figured out the labs he assigns, are they even possible? it's up to you to find out. he decided he didn't want to make any more lectures so he had the students do the lectures 10th week and took 9 off

Not the best teacher, but he was ok if you knew what you were doing. I'm happy that I knew most of the things that he was talking about. I'm used to his style of teaching and working on my own. I think I learned enough to get by.

Rothe was a good professor for GE-110, I don't know about other classes though. Our labs were semi-diffucult but Rothe always would help. I knew mostly everything from the lectures so it wasn't too difficult for me. Overall good professor for GE-110.
