I had him for an Astronomy Lab. He gives good instructions, is approachable, and is pretty helpful. But he is a tough grader. I heard in other astronomy labs the students easily got 10/10, in his I would rarely get 8/10 or above.

Alright guys listen up Darryl is a very unclear and lazy instructor. Phys 1101 is an introductory course but he explains very little to none & expects you to know it all. Tough marker and assumes you know propagations and parts that are specific in the lab report. SETUP YOUR EQUATIONS ON SPREADSHEET before the lab it'll save your time & grades.

Darryl is a really nice guy -- he's very helpful whenever he's asked. He can be a tough marker, but if you put in the effort, you'll do fine. Nobody really gets 10/10 on his labs, but you can score 8 or 9 if you work hard. His explanations are clear and quite easy to follow.

Darryl is actually a really funny guy. The labs can be difficult and involve a lot of math but he's very helpful when asked and will make sure you understand the procedure step-by-step when explaining to the class. If you miss a lab, you will fail the course. However, as long as you are excused with a valid reason you can do a makeup lab later on.

sanely hard marker. Imposable to get even a b dont dream for an A. lab report must be very neat. totally perfect to get 50% or 60. does a long intro yet does include how he wants lab reports to be . surprises you with a whole new set of errors with every lab. only good thing he gives extra time to finish up your report. don't recommend him.

Phys 1120 Labs are great with Darryl. Much better than Len. Want a good grade Read the lab manual, prepare a report outline, ask questions, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY get the sample excel document and create one before class. Use his sample data to make sure you get the same results as his document. You'll get destroyed if you don't do this.

Very, very hard marker. Basically, you will be trying for perfection in the write up and organization regardless of whether or not your experiment supported the theory. So for an 1100 class, this is a good prof if you perfectionists want a kick in the a**. I usually average 3.9-4.2GPA but not in his class.

The hardest marker i have ever had for a prof. doesn't explain at all what he wants to see on the labs. on the 1st day of class he said "don't expect any thing greater than a B from me" Hes LAZY and gives the lab manual back 2 hours before the lab and expects you to have done the pre lab and understood the material. LAZZY and HORRRIBLE prof!

-Ridiculously strict marker, especially considering he doesn't explain what he is looking for at all before he marks your assignments. - Obviously picks favorites -Overall bad teacher, makes me regret taking this course.

He marks the laboratory experiments according to your thoroughness and if the information you wrote down is sufficiently done with a corresponding conclusion. Although he sometimes can be quite clear, it's mostly just based on him explaining and us doing the work immediately, so you won't really develop a relationship as with other teachers. :)

He is a super hard teacher. he is a very hard marker and doesn̢۪t specify what needs to be done before hand. He is not very helpful, and if you are not very good with math then you will struggle in his astronomy lab. Try to get jana kolak because she is a lot easier and more helpful!

He is ridiculously strict. Just make sure you ask him about everything that he marks wrong. The way it works with Loewen is, instead of marking on how well the results are, he marks in terms of how far it detracts from perfection. So if your lab is perfect in theory but lacking some decimal places etc, you may well get something like 6/10

His level of strictness in marking is unquestionably high. But after two or three labs, you should know exactly how he wants lab to be done. The good thing is that he gives you all the time you need to finish the labs on the same day.

Once you get used to what he wants for the labs it is easy to get a good mark. I averaged 8.5 or 9 out of ten quite easily once I figured out what he wanted to see. Helpful if you need it and an overall good guy

very clear, however, very hard marker. Hardest of the hardest. Sometimes he is too harsh and takes off marks for something that doesn't make sense. Good guy, but way too tough. I didn't get ANY scaling.
