Dave is one of the best teachers I have ever had at De Anza. It's a damn shame, this man retired. His philosophy and class content were superbly coherent and translatable in todayâ??s world and more importantly tomorrowâ??s future. Hats off to Dave Barney for being a great mentor.

BEST PROF AT DE ANZA HANDS DOWN. Walked into my electronic media class and thought what the hell does this old man know about media? Turns out EVERYTHING. Dave is clear, intelligent, and HILARIOUS. Come to class and turn in your "hw" and you will get an A. Also a great class to keep up with current events. I highly suggest Mr. Barney!

Took his FTV10 class. Very boring. "The media is corrupt, and brainwashes everyone, blah blah blah." Heard it all before. Class is fairly easy. Do the assigned work and show up and you'll get an A. However, he is very rude. He will tell students to shut up and will shut students down if he doesn't care what you have to say. I don't recommend him.

I took Barney for FTV 10 and loved class and took script writing with him too. He was still fun and thought i learned a lot until I took 60B with goldman and realized i was was so behind. Take script writing classes with goldman but take F/TV 10 with Barney.

His lectures are very straightforward, and you will learn a lot from his class. However, he will often tend to say one thing that's good, then say something about it that's bad, which isn't really helpful at all. Yet, he is a good teacher, so take him. Also, be sure to come to class because you do get points for just showing up!

he is an ok teacher. hes a nice guy, but holds lots of biases. especially against disney. he picks favorites too, gets annoying. attendance system is annoying, if u r abcent then you get marked down 2 points, late 1 pnt. and if u r ontime u get 1 pnt. so dont b late bc it will hurt ur grade. there is no textbook. he is not very helpful...

He's a great and funny teacher! I wanted to take the class to improve my short film, but the class was for features, which was great! He gave me confidence in my short film. He doesn't really enforce reading the textbook that much. The downside is that he's not teaching the advanced screenwriting classes. I'd highly recommend this teacher.

DAVE'S THE BOMB! He's extremely helpful but he's a stickler for attendance. GO TO CLASS, BE ON TIME, and DO THE ASSIGNMENTS if you do these three things it's pretty hard not to pass his classes. take dave for all your film classes!

Simply the best. He is probably the only teacher at De Anza that I like. Most teachers can be intimadating but Mr. Barney is just plain cool. Others don't like him because he's very laid back in his teaching style but that's what makes him great. No real huge pressure so you're able to learn hands on. No test and no real final fun class

Took F/TV10 which opened my eyes to the media/corporate world around me, then took his 60A and learned to write all sorts of script formats. Incredible teacher, nice guy, knows his stuff. Be sure to show up and pay attention!

No textbook! Make sure you go to class and pay attention, the daily attendance points add up. He teaches in a very left-wing manner. If you can write a coherent paper and remember what he talks about you should pass with flying colors. A truly eye-opening class about media, if not overly liberal at times.
