Professor Embree is awesome. I've taken a few of his classes and yes, they're hard, but they're worth it. The amount of info you can get, and the experience and knowledge he has, is amazing. You do have to read, you do have to study and to listen, but if you do, you'll get a decent grade.

Comment:

This class can and will be difficult if you do not read the text books and take notes during his lectures. His tests are based on those two things along with some analysis questions. Class is also centered around a lot of open dialogue. I learned so much in this class and its no secret that Dave has a wealth of information in his field.

His class is very fun, very easy, and he's honestly such a smart guy. Yes you have to do your fair share of reading and note taking. If you cannot handle that then honestly why are you in school. I would take him if you genuinely want to learn. If you treat this like a class where you think the answers are on quizlet, this isn't for you.

Dave knows just about everything, but every class is a lecture. If you're taking it just to get the gen ed credit, get ready to have to work and study A LOT to get a B in the class. Great guy, difficult teacher

This was an interesting course, but his tests are very tough. He doesn't use blackboard so you are not always aware of your grade. He is a nice guy, but he is a tough professor. His lectures always ran long and he doesn't provide any sort of study guide for the final. Points are varied. We only had 600 but sometimes he will have 900.

Dave is a great teacher and helps outside of class. He does a lot of lectures through power-points in class(can be boring) . This is how you get all of your info, so show up and take notes. With a little bit of study time this should be an easy class to pass. I didn't use a textbook but we did read a book titled, "Man's Search for Meaning".

Very respectable and interesting guy. but avoid taking his class. I took this for general education and it was just too much. doesnt use blackboard and doesnt post his powerpoints anywhere. tests are difficult and the lectures are long. do not suggest him at all

I loved having Dave as my professor! He's so funny, and he made this class so much enjoyable than it could have been. Make sure to show up to class because he doesn't post lectures or anything on blackboard. His tests are challenging, so make sure to study, but the other assignments aren't near as difficult.

A very interesting teacher. If you ask questions, he explains them in an understandable way. He always has interesting stories. The lectures are kind of boring but the religion unit was very interesting. I came out of the class learning a lot.

Honestly he is such a fun time. Yes, his classwork can be cumbersome, but ONLY IF YOU PUT IT OFF. It's so easy to not to your homework, but this class is actually interesting. He has a lot go knick knacks and props he uses when telling us about the different world religions. He also uses music every now and then in lessons, which is entertaining.

Comment:

Embree is great! Even if you don't need the credit, take his intro to religion class. The information he teaches is incredibly helpful just for living your everyday life. He's a funny guy and I could listen to his lectures for hours. He does require homework, though, about once or twice a week, so keep on top of it. Oh, and no phones is serious.

The class is often very discussion based, lot's of conversation between students and Dave. BUT, he is conservatively biased - he talks like Christianity is the only religion that makes sense, and can be very offensive to students of different walks of life. So if you want a religion class taught by Fox News - Dave's your guy!

Try to avoid Professor Embree!Most people do enjoy his class but I did not. He often gets off track with his lectures which makes it very complicating to understand what he is talking about. He barely uses his PowerPoints and don't really have no useful information on them. He also never helps students he just wants you to figure it out by yourself

Avoid him at all costs!! He makes you infer almost the entire class and only says "read the text" when you ask a question. The text is very in depth and hard to understand too. He is just a rude guy who is inconsiderate of his students.

Dave is a nice guy who is very passionate about his teachings, but I struggled to keep a B in his class. I studied for hours only to come to a test that was near impossible to pass. He doesn't understand we are not as familiar with the subject as him. I read everything he told us to read and it did me no good, as he only gave us 2 quizzes on it.

I was never once bored in one of Dave's lectures. He is funny, interesting and relevant. Lots of dialogue between him and the class. Someone mentioned that he was a very difficult grader, but he's really not. He doesn't use BB, so you have to be sure to go to class to get the notes everyday. I love the chance to take him again in the future.

Dave is a fabulous teacher! He knows his stuff and teaches it in an unbiased manner. Class is more of a conversation than a lecture. He takes attendance randomly, and has pop quizzes over the reading randomly, so you need to read! He expects you to put forth effort, and doesn't give out easy A's. Have to write three papers. I highly recommend!

Very good teacher. He will patiently and fully answer any question any time. He makes this class very interesting. He is a super nice guy. If your lazy and just wanna set unnoticed asleep in a room with someone who doesn't care dont take this guy. If you wanna learn he is perfect!
