I've had Hollinger for 3 comp sci courses. He's probably the best CS teacher at RPI, very clear and very fair. Explains things really well. He can be funny (cheaters video, other jokes in class), but most of the time lectures are reallllly boring.

The best CS professor RPI has. Hollinger is helpful, clear, reasonable, and kind. However, he will often not reply to email and his lectures, while informing and well organized, can be dry. (He sounds like he is tired of repeating the same old information; he doesn't make it exciting.) That said, every other aspect is as the other reviewers say. A-

He was one of the best professors that I ever had. Funny, informative, and always helpful. The class I took was basically programming for non-technical people, and I came away from it knowing so much more than I ever thought I could know. If you can take a class with him, you should.

I dont know about comp. org. but Hollinger's Op Sys lectures were the only comp sci lectures I never slept through.. Maybe I just got used to the regular CSCI lectures but I definitely didn't find these boring. By far the best CSCI professor I've ever had.
