Thank heavens I took this course with Prof. Avis! The material is quite abstract but he really helped clarify it. He is very generous and eager to help. He will not let you leave his office until you understand! You have to be precise in your answers, but the midterm is good preparation for the final exam (very similar questions).

Pretty interesting. Doesn't limit his classes to just the material, goes in-depth into certain complex algorithms. Not so helpful outside class, though. Doesn't seem to care about his students, either.
