I will be frank. He is not a good professor. He just tells you what is on the test and essay and it is up to you to learn and remember that stuff. Atleast his tests you know what is gonna be on it. If you are passionate about the subject, don't take him because he will make you passion go down. His grading is also not consistent.

All his classes have the same grading basis. Once you learn his style and system the class becomes an easy A. Three tests, one presentation, one paper. For tests, just use key terms in the essay and you will do well. State the facts. For the paper, use lots of citations. For the presentation, just make sure you talk at least 5 minutes. Simple.

The professor was somewhat rude, and sometimes too quiet. Sometimes he would give different definitions of terms, and i either didn't get it all down, or hear him, and he would belittle me on the grounds of i didn't read the material in the book. no i just didn't get your definition down or hear it. Also the class was based on mostly tests.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. 300 characters is not close to enough to describe how atrocious this class is. No structure, grading is based on whims. I knew all the material for the first test, gave me a 60%. After the first few horrendous and unorganized lectures, I did not show up for the rest of the semester. Still got an A, ended up teaching myself.

The professor was an intelligent teacher and seemed to be loved by many but always was disrespectful towards the students and would put little care into answering my questions. I had never had a more rude teacher in my life but I learned to deal with it.

Most awful class I've ever taken. Not only is this professor the most tough grader on tests, but your whole grade is determined by the three tests that are given in this class. Would not recommend this class to anyone.

He doesn't really lecture so much as rambles and he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about a lot of the time. He doesn't give much homework, but he also doesn't tell you what he wants on the exams and quizzes. The tests are essays and he hardly prepares you or tells you what he wants out of them. Most students get a C on his tests.

I got an A on every single quiz and final exam. His class is easy. You don't even have to show up to class only when he's "reviewing" the chapters for the quizzes. You have to know the very basics for the quizzes. For example, if you're comparing the US & UK google their governments and learn the basic of the branches and you're good.

Lectures are always short but often unclear and contradictory. He lectures for 20 minutes then says we don't have enough time to cover the last two chapters for the final. The panel discussion, a term paper, and three exams are easy B's with little prep, but an A is a challenge. The final is cumulative and is most significant for your grade.

He's not that bad. Don't let these reviews scare you. I got Bs on two tests and the term paper. I only got an A on the final and the panel discussion, and I ended up with an A in class. On the essays, he just wants the very basics. They're not hard. Write big and clear. He tells you the essay questions beforehand so write them at home & memorize it

Very passable class, very informative. Lots of reading. Essay tests. Lots of Vocabs. He is very helpful and will work with you to improve your grade. If you don't read and study the vocab, you will get low grade. Reading is the key, easy B. Lots of open class discussion. Best class in that aspect.

I would only recommend this class to political science majors. Haggerty is a nice guy, but not the best teacher. There were a lot of smart people in the class who did not get good grades, because Haggerty is kinda unclear on what he expects. There are 3 tests, a paper, and a presentation. So not a lot to get graded on.

He's a cool guy, but an awful professor. His lectures are uninformative and often incorrect. 3 tests (he calls them "quizzes") including the final - 3 essay questions, 10 short answers, one hour. One paper, one debate/panel discussion. Takes forever to grade. I usually get A's - got a C in his class. Avoid him at all costs.

Comment:
Professor Haggerty was nice and approachable, but a terrible teacher. The information in his lectures, the information he gives you verbally in review, and the information from the book were often all different. His grading scale is based in unreachable standards that he doesn't explain. He considers lecturing thoroughly to be "baby college".

He lectures a lot and everything that he tells you comes straight from the book. His exams aren't difficult at first glance but the way he grades is difficult to understand. I memorized every definition and was still marked down for using certain terms that he deemed "unacceptable." Overall, not worth it if you just need the class for general ed.

I only took his class because I'm a political science major and I needed this class, but if you're not required don't take him. He's a nice person and I enjoyed the material we learned in class, but he is a very tough and unpredictable grader. You have to write 3 essays for every test and ten terms in one hour. Tips for test: write big and clear.
