Absolutely no feedback from any tests, poorly structured course, massive disconnect between online quizzes and whats covered in class. Once a month would plug some $100 program for a 5% bonus mark. I probably have close to 200 pages worth of handouts, of which maybe 10% has any useful information. Same midterm mark between 50% and 100% attendance.

He teaches an accounting course but it is valuable for all business students. In order to do well in this class, you need to be present and take a lot of notes. The book and online quizzes provide a basis of knowledge, but without coming to class, you will struggle.

Can be tough marker if you are not prepared to explain your thoughts. Opinionated but will give you a chance to explain your reasoning when needed. Boring-ish class but teaches real life lessons and gives valuable advice most prof's at SMU wont put the time in to teaching. Overall good guy who invests the needed time into his classes

Okay so here's the thing with Bateman: You can't pass this class without trying. This is not a class that you can skip all the lectures and still do well. His tests are entirely from class discussions. He gives out lecture notes that as long as you take notes on those about what he says, you'll do fine. Fair amount of online homework, but its easy

He is incredibly full of himself, the course has zero structure. Over halfway through the course now and I still have no idea what it is about. His lectures do not follow the text at all, he just rants about random things for 75 minutes. Would never take another class from him ever again.

Probably one of the best professors I've had at SMU. Really knows his stuff, must attend class because he rarely uses the book except for quizzes. Class is sometimes a bit dry but Bateman makes a lot of connections to the real word which in turn made it more interesting. Go to class, participate and you'll do fine!

Prof Bateman was actually one of the better profs I've had at SMU. I had his 8:30 am class and he actually kept things interesting. He doesn't simply read off powerpoints, or make you memorize terminology; you actually learn applicable stuff. Show up to his class, read the readings, and you're grade will reflect your effort.

Not a very good professor, seeing as how he is the Chair of the Accounting Department. Going to class is basically like getting a life lesson. There are about 6, yes six, assignments per week online. Final exam has nothing to do with the textbook, maybe 5% of it. The rest comes from your own common sense.

Worst experience I've had with a teacher. Don't bother buying the text. Just study off his handouts. 5% of the midterm was from the text. The online assignments are marked on length not quality. A friend and I both submitted the same answers but mine was more concise & half the length. He received a 90, I received a 70. There's no feedback either.

Batemen yammers on and on about what you need to be doing to pursue a career in accounting, and when it comes time for midterms you feel like you havent learned anything, but can basically state your opinion for every question and pull of a decent mark. He stresses students out because he stresses how difficult this course is, when it isn't. DULL.
