This was one of the worst professors I've ever had. I already took micro Econ and easily got an A but this professor makes macro so much harder then it actually is. There are only 9 homework assignments and two exams the entire semester. The midterm and the final are completely different then what you learn all semester. I would NOT recommend Bivin

Awful. No visual aids, tells you things that contradict the book, LOSES hw/quizzes, doesn't respond to emails, and tests are IMPOSSIBLE and poorly written. Studied for weeks and got a 58% on the final.

I have never written a review on here before, but after having this teacher I feel as though I must b/c I wish someone had warned me about Bivin. He is the worst. He spends the entire class reading out loud his chapter summaries (which are on oncourse), so going to class is a waste of time. And then his tests are impossible regardless if you study.

This guy always responds to e-mails and has notes for the textbook. You don't need to buy a textbook! Just do the questions at the end of his notes for a somewhat easy A.

The online videos for the class are available at any time which makes it easy to get ahead easy to work with your schedule. He's good at responding to messages, and if you make use of the live study sessions and actually pay attention, you're good.

While he offers powerpoints and videos. The PP aren't very helpful & the lectures are no better! He doesn't explain anything. I was left more confused about everything.

He is an extremely nice guy and sometimes a little hard to understand. But the only reason for that is because he is incredibly educated on the material and has trouble dumbing it down. whoever said he's hard to get ahold of is wrong. He is the only teacher that actually responded to emails, normally within hours of me sending them.

Teaches in relatively broad strokes, tests over very fine details. Pretty unfair and unreasonable on short answer grading.

Taking this class online was the biggest mistake. His test was incredibly difficult not to mention the fact that it is too hard to get a hold of him in order to prepare for the test. Definitely would not recommend him.

This is the Macroecon online class. We use Bivin's videos every day and they are amazingly helpful! He's great at boiling down concepts to a level of easy comprehension and retention. He's very knowledgable and enjoyable to listen to, funny too at times. Take him! (He's not my actual professor however)

Macroeconomics is not especially difficult, but this professor makes it unnecessarily difficult. You know the kind of prof who validates his own intelligence by having 4.0 students get Bs and Cs in his class. This is that kind of prof.

I would not recommend this prof if you're taking the online class. If you do, don't use his lectures and chapter summaries to prepare for tests -- they're useless. Find other sample tests online, use other textbooks from the library, etc. He teaches surface macroeconomics and tests on deep and comprehensive macroeconomics. Beware.

Students saying that Prof. Bivin, "couldn't answer questions" were most likely asking questions off topic. I found that his lectures were clear and invaluable. He delivery is very understandable. Homeworks were a little tricky but manageable and test were challenging. I would take another class with Bivin if I could.

This professor is not very helpful. He uses material he made several years ago. His homework assignments are hard to understand because students aren't quite sure what he is asking. I'm an A student and I'm very worried about what I will get in this class. Take the class from another professor if possible.

The class is fairly easy. There are occasional (roughly every other week), relatively easy assignments that have between 5 and 10 questions. He can be a good teacher, although he was often unable to answer questions asked of him in class.

Macroecon is hard and he's trying his best to make it easier for you. He's helpful with the homework, curves exams, gives a lot of examples to explain the concepts. Highly recommended. One of the best professors I've had far now.His exams are hard, but blame 'economics' not him.Attend his classes,do homework, and ask a lot of questions=get an A.
