Whoever speaks ill of Bohn should take a hard look at themselves. If you are only interested in a grade, and an easy one, than Bohn may not be the man for you. He is crazy smart, laid back, and funny. His classes are somewhat demanding but he is generous with grades in the end. His classes tend to be more based on philosophy than on politics.

People complain, but Bohn rocks. Yeah, there was a lot of work -- I spent 12-15 hours in review for the mid-term and final both -- but it was worth it. Go to the review sessions and you'll do just fine. I learned more about the evolution of thought and political philosophy from his class than from any other that I've taken.

Professor Bohn has been my worst professor. He seems like an ok guy at first but he tortures you by making you read HIS textbook which you'll need seer stones to interpret. don't take this class trust me! i skimmed by with a B+ but i worked my butt off. you have to write a page summary of each class period and it's misserable.

Lectures are not especially helpful, uses language that is nearly incomprehensible. Requires a half page lecture summary for each class period, which are submitted for him to grade at random at the end of the semester. Uses his own textbook, no reading of primary sources. Far less interesting than my 201 class.

It is obvious that he is a very smart man. But he loves to ramble. The worst thing is that he is incredibly disorganized. He does not have a calendar and we got a syllabus after a month of class.

I thought it was going to be a class on modern political thought. We spent half of the semester covering the Ancients (3 wks on Augustine!), spent about 20 minutes on Hegel, one lecture on Kant, and only mentioned Marx in passing. I was patient, but by the time my patience was exhausted it was too late to withdraw from the course. Not recommended.

This guy is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is impossible to understand and his class is super redundant. His TA easily taught better than him. I got an A in the class, but it still felt pointless.

Dr. Bohn is an average BYU professor. I got a B+ in the class with what I would rate as "a slightly above average effort." Bohn's tests are hard, but as long as you stay on top of the lecture summaries you should do fine in the class. He's not by any means the worst professor at BYU.

Material is moderately interesting, and Bohn knows his stuff, but this course and instructor is useless, disorganized, and completely discombobulated.

This class changed the way I see the world in a lot of ways. A lot of people don't like him, but I think it's because it's hard to know what he wants.

Not an easy class. I took it to satisfy a GE requirement, and it really isn't a politics class-it is all about philosophy. If you decide to take it, spend lots of time on the reading and don't miss lectures. Hard to stay awake in lecture, but the summaries he makes you write are really helpful, so keep up with them. You will learn a lot.

This is by far the worst class I have ever had at BYU. Dr. Bohn will spend more time talking about french bagettes than political science and then expect you to understand political philosophy. His textbook is poorly written and incomprehensible and his assignments and tests are nothing more than memorizing his incomprehensible writing.

I hated Dr. Bohn as a professor. I took PLSC 201 and loved the class so I decided to take 202, but the only prof left was Bohn. What a huge MISTAKE! He was the worst professor and thinks he's so much smarter than everyone. Instead of explaining concepts he just talked in flowerly language to make himself look smarter. avoid bohn!

I've had some bad professors before, but he is by far the worst. Instead of using the book that EVERY other History of Civ prof uses, he decides to use his own. Those stupid summaries are so dumb and unhelpful. I would avoid taking this class if at all possible. He thinks he's smart but is just a jerk!

Pretentious enough to call class summaries by a French name. Clearer than Hancock (Pl Sc 201) and could be seen as a waste to you money because he arrived late (over 20 mins one time) several times.

There's nothing political about this course. It should be in the philosophy department. Pick another elective, kids. It's also obnoxiously repetitive. I would miss several days of class and we'd be in the same place from before. Even though he only lectures in class read the text well for the midterm. KEEP UP ON YOUR PRECIS!

Have taken 202, 308, and 300 from Bohn and loved them all. He is a generous grader so don't stress about it. He is brilliant and a great lecturere though at times he can ramble. He practices the philosophies he teaches. I can't think of a kinder, more generous professor. Do your part and you'll do well.

Good lecturer. The lect summaries are a pain but you'll do awesome on the tests if you do them well...and he'll give you an A. I read the text before class (1hr), took crazy notes, and spent 1.5 hours doing a lect summ each T-TH class and got an A. He'll ask you on the final what you think you deserve & why. Has GREAT TA's.
