this class made me want to change my major to history. i learned sooo much about a topic i thought i wouldnt like. i am now an expert on 19th century american history. he definitely knows his stuff. his lectures could be boring if youre an ignoramus and are only taking this class for a requirement or something. only bad thing is a ton of reading.

although the lectures are boring he is a very funny and nice man. expectations are very clear. whole grade is given by T.A. so MAKE SURE YOU GO TO SECTION. overall it is a bearable and sometimes enjoyable class, i recommend it.

it's a really simple class. Just read the book (you don't have to attend class unless you really want an A because he lectures on some of the ID's that'll be on the tests) and you'll come out with good to great grade. Oh and he's pretty funny when he wants to be.

He's honestly the most boring teacher I've ever had. I never took npte, missed 1/3 of the lectures and slept through most of the rest. My TA was anal on the paper, but the tests were cake with the study sheets, so I still got a B. Take him as a naptime

This guy is a complete bore. He doesn't address anything that is actually significant to 19th century American history and instead focuses on insignificant, sensationalistic, revisionist rhetoric, such as sex scandals of Thomas Jefferson and Douglas.

Extremely boring. Will fall asleep. He reads an essay lecture to you. Do this: Don't read the text but read the side books. Lecture note-taking is no priority. He gives you a key terms page near the midterm and then you just study that.
