My advisor told me that other students enjoy Professor Specht's courses. This must be a lie started by Professor Specht. That wouldn't even surprise me. I've never had a professor so arrogant and full of themselves. He knows the material but I just can't stand being in class with him.

You have to be willing to do the work. make sure to do the problems at the end of each Ch. If there is something you don't understand bring the specific question to him. He will be more willing to work with you if your putting in the effort. And do NOT skip class. Doesn't take attendance but if you miss a class you won't know whats going on.

He is always willing to help you as long as you ask for it and come prepared with questions. He is very funny and a great guy.. He is passionate and his lectures are never boring. I may have gotten a C, but i have learned more in his class than any other class i have ever taken in my life.

This class was kind of tough, he focuses more on if you have an understanding of the concepts more than mathematics and computations. He himself is awesome! He's hilarious and keeps a seemingly boring class upbeat. Sometimes he talks about stuff not directly related to class but all in all a good professor.

This class was really difficult for me, but Dr. Specht got me through it. If you go to class, take good notes, and do the practice questions like he suggests, then you'll be fine. I also find him hilarious. I was never bored in his class even though I hate math.

You definitely have to pay attention, participate, take notes and if you tend to struggle with math like I do- get outside extra help. If you make office hours with him he is more than willing to help you out. His test are like 95% conceptual, meaning know your definitions and how to explain things. He's funny and tries to make class fun.

You must want to work, and you must leave your own ego at the door. I have sent him emails at 1am and he has responded almost instantly. I'm not sure he sleeps. But, he has always been there to help me and encourage me. He's the best, far better than UC deserves. If he's riding your ass it's because he sees something in you worth his time.

Due to the fact that he challenges us (his students) to work hard and actually EARN our grades students like to complain about him. If you put the effort in then you will do great with him. THIS IS COLLEGE. WONT GET PUSHED THROUGH LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL.I personally struggled in his class, but that was due to my effort level. I recommend Specht 100%.

Does not make the course information clear enough as to what is gonna be on the test. Tells you to the textbook and doesnt use the info from the book on the test. Available for help but very hard to approach and acts as if your bothering him and doesnt list office hours

Let's just say I would never recommend this professor to anyone... His office hours are bullcrap because when you go to talk to him, he will say "Read the book".. Then when you put something on the test that's from the book and you get it wrong and ask him why.. He will say "What I say is more important than the book"... MAKE UP YOUR MIND.

A difficult class, but he gives you everything you need to succeed- IF you put in the effort. ALWAYS available for office hours, and really wants his students to do well. Take lots of notes in class- his lectures are gold. And he has a great sense of humor! One of my fave profs so far. Would recommend to everyone! Worth the effort!

Statistics for the behavioral sciences with Dr. Specht is indeed a tough class. However, if you put forth a little bit of effort and are willing to learn the material, this class is not as tough as it appears. Dr. Specht is a great teacher and I would not want to take a statistics course with any other teacher.

DrS is the most engaging + dedicated professor I've ever met.He made Stats into a worthwhile, hysterical class.ALWAYS willing to provide extra help:during daytime or via e-mail.He explains the most difficult topics in a crystal clear way w/ sincere patience.Very accommodating to student's needs.I couldn't have succeeded w/o his understanding. Half of my class failed...no joke yes I agree hes a funny guy but hes not very helpful if you go 2 him for help he will laugh in your face. only 3 exams out of the whole seme& they r very dif most people got in the 20's-40's on 1st exam.Take the lady who teaches PSY211 she is helpful& you can use an open book on all exams.
