Military History is my thing, so keep that in mind when reading this review. Corlett is AMAZING. The lectures are fascinating, the reading is compelling, and the assignments are never just boring paper reports. I LOVED this class, and I would recommend Corlett without reservations to anyone. You have to read for the final, but you'll want to do it.

Definitely take! I had an interest in military history coming in, but even for anyone not familiar with the subject, it is an awesome class! Attendance is not mandatory but lectures are a lot of fun. 13 classes you watch movies or documentaries. Two papers which are time consuming but not hard, and a very easy final as long as you come to class!

Corlett's Military History course is one of the best I have ever taken. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He really utilizes multimedia in class, too, which makes the content easier to understand. All of the reading was fascinating and I actually enjoyed it. He is also really funny and laid back. Take this class!

Amazing professor! Best I've taken here. He is extremely helpful with papers and finding sources for papers. His lectures kept me on the edge of my seat and this was an 8 am class! normally I'd be fighting sleep. 4 papers no tests. I am a junior and am sad to have only discovered him this year. I can't wait to take another class with him.

Corlett is great. He's laid back, helpful, and encyclopedic. Mil. History has a bit of reading, but nearly everything important is touched in class. His final was easy and papers were graded... gently. Don't take it pass/fail. You'll do the reading anyway, and end up frustrated that an A becomes "P." Corlett needs an office upgrade.

I currently have Dave as a seminar leader/grader for a pre-collegiate course at W&M. I haven't received my grade yet, but so far, he seems like a great teacher and good guy -- laid-back and funny. I took Military History with Corlett a few years ago, and it's one of the best classes I've taken at WM. It was fascinating, easy, and Corlett brought a lot of experience in the field to the classroom, as well as a great sense of humor. Great class, take it.
