Comment:

Cox gets a worse rep than deserved, and at the end of the day is a pretty standard/average professor. Took him twice and was good for Multinational, incredibly boring for Corporate. Absurdly easy grader, as in you can put the wrong answer completely but if you show a lot of work you get 3 points off. 2 tests, 1 project, and don't expect grades back

Comment:

Not the best teacher. Long and boring lectures. Some classes are a waste of time. However, if you get the overall concepts, take notes on the equations, and understand the problems from the textbook, you will pass the exams easily. He is an easy grader. Just don't miss class and not get the notes. You might miss an important equation, etc...

Ive taken 3 classes from him. +'s: He's easy- only class you really need to go to is the one before the test. (You review problems which you haven't seen the entire quarter btw) -'s- You will retain nothing and leave the class feeling like you've wasted your time and money. I could go on about his laziness and arrogance, but in the end, he's easy

One of the worst professors I have ever had at DU. Did not prepare us AT ALL for the 3 tests that you have and even worse the 1 project. Those three things are the only things in the gradebook. He gives 0 homework to help students practice. You cannot read his handwriting at all. He tries to be funny and make up for how bad he is, don't fall for it

Perhaps one of the best professors I have ever taken, for the people who are complaining, they are just unwilling to do the work and show up to class. Funny, intelligent, and engaging. Responded to all emails sent, and people need to understand that he has a lot of meetings etc. that interrupt his office hours. He works hard and it shows. Good Prof

He was good teacher. If you put the effort in and showed up to class, he was willing to help you. I wouldn't hold what he teaches too highly as the topics are rarely going to be focused on in the financial world; I wish one teacher could use real life examples and projects. Oh well. Still a good teacher.

The people who rate Cox low are the ones who will end up doing useless work in a poorly-lit cubicle. This is the best professor at DU. Knows his stuff and teaches finance better than any other professor at Daniels. His class is challenging, but far from difficult if you spend a little time on the material. Don't take anyone else for Finance

What a bunch of whining going on! This is one great professor -- if making you think means he's being too tough, then you'll never make it in the real world. Prof. Cox is an expert in his field AND he has a passion for teaching -- an excellent combination.

He is a good teacher. Very knowledgable and happy to be teaching. Attendance doesn't factor into the grading scale, so a lot of people don't go to class and then are angry that their grade was low. It is a very difficult class and if you don't attend your tests and projects will suffer greatly. Most angry comments are because of this I think.

I agree that, if grades weren't assigned, Cox would be highly ranked. He is tough- don't take him if you are looking for an easy class. But his high expectations make you learn more than you would with other professors. He is always happy to take questions and was in general helpful, though his office hours do tend to be irregular.

Interesting class. You really do learn a lot. Cox is always willing to help you understand the material outside of class. However it is a little unfair that he makes this business core class so difficult and kids have to work there asses off while other professors teaching the same class make it a ton easier. Other than that great teacher

If grades weren't distributed, I assure you that everyone would give Cox impressive marks. It is clear that he knows his stuff, and even if he chooses not to use his knowledge to his advantage (which is an unfair assumption in the first place), it doesn't mean that you can't as his pupil. The low blows are unnecessary, he deserves an A in my book

difficult professor. huge discrepancy between his class and the other professors teaching the same course. closed notes/closed books, no formulas given on tests. LOTS of memorizing. thinks he is way funnier than he is. not recommended.

VERY hard class. Forced memorization of everything while other classes got formula sheets and there was a LOT to memorize. Teaches like people know everything that he talks about. Only take if you want a VERY challenging class that will be hard to do well in. Do not recommend
