Comment:

Dr. Cusick is one of the best math professors I have had. He made a hard subject (Calculus) fairly easy to understand. Do all homework assignments. He gives extra credit points to those that ask questions and do problems on the board at the beginning of every class. With a good amount of effort, it is not hard to do well in this class.

This is a teach yourself class, you will be doing it all on your own with no help from the professor. Class participation is required, you will not pass this class without doing board work and asking questions out loud. Highly do not recommend for the simple fact that you have to teach yourself.

Dr. Cusick is a good professor. He cares that you learn the material. The thing I liked most about his class is he gives credit out for asking questions and going up to the board to work out homework problems. Attendance is mandatory, it is taken as a grade also. I found the material hard, but not unbearable.

Comment:

Amazing class, calc 2 is very hard but Dr. Cusick explains things very well. Participation is a must for more points. Class points are out of a zero-sum-game and tests are curved using standard deviation. Great class and learned a lot. I would recommend him for any math class as he genuinely cares about the students learning the material.

Dr. Cusick is a professor who, though difficult, genuinely cares for his students and wants you to in the end, "learn mathematics" as he would say. His tests can be very difficult but he wants you to do well and provides plenty of extra opportunities for you to do so.

CLASS PARTICIPATION IS EVERYTHING. Dr. Cusick rewards students for taking time do actually do the homework and demonstrate it on the board. He gives out extra credit slips for asking questions and rewards "board points" for solving problems at the board. The more you participate, the better the grade. Fantastic man, shy kids stay away though..

Just completed my Calc II final a few hours ago. Dr. Cusick is a demanding but very caring professor; he gives crystal-clear explanations, taking the time to show you how to build integrals, and where the ideas come from. Be prepared to WORK. The final was VERY thorough, and touched on everything we covered. I hope I have another class with Cusick!

Do not take Cusick if you aren't comfortable getting in front of the class to work out problems. Also, his lectures are very confusing so be prepared to teach yourself. He doesn't answer questions clearly. Cusick is a hilarious, wonderful man, but I wouldn't suggest him to someone who isn't already strong in calculus.

Dr. Cusick is such a sweet man & a great professor. He truly wants his students to succeed, not just in class, but in life too. He gives participation credit for working problems on the board and asking questions. So always do the homework, even though its not for a grade - it adds up in the end! Pay attention and do the homework and you'll do fine

This class is killing me but I can honestly say that I will have learned more from him than any other math teacher. Be prepared to do homework every single night and to not get a good grade unless you actually study. He pays attention to who works hard and curves your final grade accordingly. Take him, but be prepared to work your ass off.

I'm sure he's a nice man,not good at teaching. Material taken from a book that he said is not good. Begins class with homework questions. One person doesn't understand something, teaching time is taken to explain it. Heavy explanations of homework leads to not being taught material for next homework. I can't use my TI36 I used on the ACT. TI30 max.

Do not take Dr. Cusick. Though I'm sure is is very knowledgeable in mathematics, he is not good at teaching them. You will have to teach yourself the material. Tests are tough and he doesn't curve except for the final. He also isn't generous with partial credit. 30% of your grade is participation and attendance; don't expect to sit in the back.

He is just an old man with plenty of experience at teaching Calculus. The man is sarcastic as one can get so if you aren't fond of that, consider someone else. He isn't mean and curves his exams generously. Simply study the homework problems and you really can't go wrong with this.

Cusick has a very nontraditional grading policy in which he awards students for talking and doing board work in front of the class (easy points). that being said his tests are quite difficult, this is the first math class I've EVER taken that I haven't received an A in, but I don't blame Cusick for that, this class covers hard content!

Comment:

He is all about students asking questions and going to the board. He gives out tickets for this that can make or break your grade. Attendance is important, homework every night but not for a grade. Tests are not too bad if you understand the material and study. Loves to ask about definitions of things. Funny and a nice person.

Attendance isn't really mandatory but you lost points for missing days. What I really hated about this course was that the homework was usually given first and then the material was taught. Do not expect a clear answer to questions you ask. The professor is really nice though and has a good sense of humor. I had to teach myself some of the material
