Comment:

This man is a memorable teacher and unlike any professor you will probably ever have. Most people can enjoy his wacky personality, but some won't. He'll say a bunch of things that only make sense in his head but thats only because he's extremely intelligent and lacks some social skills. Be open minded. He truly cares about your success.

I think that if you are already set in your own ways of doing music theory, then you will have trouble dealing with Dr. Cutler's methods, but if you are new to the material , it is a great approach. He is an eccentric and highly skilled musician. He will reach out to you if you are struggling. Only issue is his obsession with speed over accuracy.

Cutler has very specific methods. If you learn them and use them, you will do well, and if you don't, you will not. Simply pay attention in class and learn his methods. He may say some discouraging things, but don't let them get to you. He has strong opinions about music, and it's best to take what's helpful and leave what's not.

Dr. Cutler is the most patronizing, egocentric professor I have ever had. Manipulative. Close-minded. He believes he is infallible. Altogether an unreasonable man. I was three minutes late to his class, and he took me aside to lecture about how my "behavioral problems will destroy my career." Do not take advice from this person.

Professor is very knowledgeable but very unreasonable and . For school related reasons, I couldn't attend his end of the year "speech" and because of this he lowered my final grade by 10 points. Instead of receiving an A i got a B+ because of David Cutler's unbelievable hypocrisy.

Most passive aggressive, impossible man to work with. He thinks the world of himself and will treat you as an equal until you disagree, and then he is obviously right because he is faculty. Much more interested in pursuing his own agenda than helping student, it would be very accurate to say he uses them. A total diva.

Culter is the most selfish, pretensious man at Duquesne. He will never look you in the eye unless he wants something from you. He has perfect pitch, which is the sole basis of his "musicianship skills". Unfortunately, you have to take his class. Hopefully he won't show up at your ensemble audition.

Phenominal teacher and a great guy. He cares more about learning and growing as a musician than he does the grade that you get, and wants you do to the same. Keeps in contact with students even after he's no longer their teacher. Many good ideas and a great mentor. His material can be difficult, but he's always willing to help you.
