Dr Dennis's class I would recommend to anyone. I found a passion for history by the end. The course is based on lectures you listen to on YouTube, and then one in-class meeting per week; graded mostly on forums. It was a good way to learn the material without having to force it and you definitely leave informed and excited about it. 10/10

this class is set up terribly. we only meet once a week and have to listen to 2 hour lectures online and then respond to those and thats how we get our grade. at first i thought that sounded great, then i lived through it and it is truly awful. the online lectures can barely be heard and are the most boring thing you will ever experience. 1/10

Pretty boring class and the class is structured poorly. There are around 29 online lectures ranging from 30-90 min each, and for each of these you need to write a summary response paper on what you watched. The grading on it is pretty tough. If you do well on it though, you're set. Midterm and final are extra credit, only met once a week not twice.

The way the course is set up, it is basically all online, makes things more difficult than it should be. Don't get me wrong the content is good and the passion he has for the history makes it interesting. BUT the lectures online are too long and the videos are poor quality his voice is hard to hear through the videos, I just can't with this class.

I would not take him again because: 1. Most of the grade is based on forums. His criteria for grading these forums are strictly based on how good he felt you did. 2. There is too much homework: 2 forums due every week and I wrote like 3 pgs a forum in order to get a decent grade. 3. He can be condescending. He sent me an email on writing emails.

Loved professor Dennis! It was a MWF class but we only met on Wednesdays and Fridays. Almost your entire grade (90%) is based on lecture responses, and the lectures are posted on youtube. Go to class as it will help boost your grade since he passes out sign in sheets. Midterm and final are take home and optional, they can can you from a B to an A.

Professor Dennis is a great teacher. He gives clear expectations and explanations. He assigned two reviews for the midterm and one for the final. There was extra credit in the class. The class is mainly designed to take notes. There are quizzes, allowed. I would suggest getting acquainted with a pen and paper, the notes are allowed on the quiz.

This was a good professor. I enjoyed taking him, and loved the format of the class. All grades from this class (except attendance) are from your response to two online video lectures each week. I tended to put this class off, had I put more effort in I would have ended with a better grade.

If you need an EASY tier 1 history class, this is your guy. The class was interesting because you learn history through art, music, literature. Watch two online videos a week and write summary responses/reflections. OPTIONAL midterm, final, EC to boost grade. Only meet once a week even! Just an amazing prof and amazing experience!

AMAZING PROFESSOR. I highly recommend this class if you are looking for an easier class. Class is only once a week and they are just questions based on the online lectures you do. I recommend going to them because they are worth points. Online lectures are not bad at all, but invest a good chunk of your evening to them (usually two a week).

Such an easy class! I would take Prof Dennis for any history class if I could! His material and online lectures are super interesting. You have to write a lot about each unit but it is so easy to get an A in the class. No textbook, no final, no midterm, except for EXTRA CREDIT! He is very sympathetic and understand towards his students as well.

Would not recommend. So much writing for each unit and gives no feedback. Online course but every week he would go at least 30-50 minutes over allowed time. Get ready to write if you're taking his class!

This class was blended with work to be done both online and in the classroom. If you are at all interesting in German history courses, TAKE DR. DENNIS. He is incredibly insightful and really easy to listen to. He takes attendance every class and you have to take notes on his online lectures. I recommend him, you won't regret taking this class.

For HIST102, this is a blended class so we only meet once a week usually and the finals are optional! He can be long winded but really nice and passionate about history. Its all individual homework. Its easy but takes a while. Get the homework done and don't skip class, and its an easy A.

Personally, I DETEST history. However, coming at it from an art history standpoint really made it fun for me. I actually went to the Art Institute as a result and was ecstatic to see that most of what we'd covered was there. HE IS VERY HARD TO FOLLOW when it comes to his lectures. Half of what he says doesn't have any bearing on the forum's you do.

Dr. Dennis is an incredible lecturer. Even though it was an online course, I took an incredible amount out of this course. Tells history through literature, poetry, music, and art-- and it has changed my way of looking at and appreciating the Arts. Quizzes and Forum contributions are quite easy if you take great lecture notes.

Dr. Dennis is very passionate about the material he teaches. You watch lectures online, write a summary, and only come to class twice a week. During class you can basically do whatever, since there's no quizzes or tests. A lot of outside work, online lectures can be 20min-1.5 hours, but only two essays to be turned in during the course. No textbook

He's a very simple teacher, goes over questions and brief material of online lectures he posts on youtube. Lectures can range from 25 minutes to 1.3 hours. Only 2 Papers, midterm and final, they are not so bad if you do them EARLY IN ADVANCE. That's important. Make sure to attend, he does take attendance every day. Importantly, NO QUIZZES!

On one hand, no tests and all you have to do is watch two lectures every week on youtube and write 2 or 3 paragraphs about them. However the midterm paper is very long, (about 11 pages for me) and is quite challenging. If you're not a good test taker but a good writer I would take this class. Also, he looks like Jim Carrey.

The entire class is basically online. Every week you watch two lectures on YouTube and write two paragraph on each. This literally takes so long its not even funny he also is a really tough grader on these. Class only once a week which is a discussion with mandatory attendance and it is so boring i cant even stay awake. bottom line: DON'T TAKE HIM
