Great professor. A little unclear at times but very intelligent and brings a different perspective to philosphy than other members of the department, which is great for exposing students to different viewpoints

Brilliant man, goes off on tangents but speaks a lot of truth. Listen carefully to him when he talks about the books, when he does talk about them. Very politically aware of the world. Would take again.

Prof Dilworth is a really intelligent man but he does not translate his knowledge into his teachings very well. He goes off on tangents about current events and lectures are barely based on the books we have to read. Although he is willing to give you extra credit and drop your lowest grade if you show an upward trend in grades.

Very long, boring, drawn our lectures. He tends to talk down to students, but I all I could do is laugh at his ridiculous statements. He expects a lot (i.e. memorizing a single part of one peom out of a ton of pages worth of poems).

His lectures are drawn out , boring, and have little to do with the exam. I worked more hard for this dec than my bio classes. I enjoy eastern philosophy but recognizing a single line from a poem out of 50 poems and analyzing according to his perspective is ridiculous. I don't expect dec classes to be Segway for phD in philosophy. It's too much!

I studied with Dr D from 72-74; took many courses with him on Eastern and Western philosophy. I got to know the man. You will have to spend time reading and preparing. He does not teach simple subjects, rather some of the most complex subjects in philosophy. If you are not open to new ideas, don't bother. The values I learned remain with me today.

When he's actually talking about the subject matter it's an interesting class, but he tends to go on rants for half the class about his political views. Be prepared for conservative rants against this generation, sexuality, and technology. The reading material isn't too bad nor are his quizzes. I just wish he talked about those more in class.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF LEARNING FROM! Heed this warning: he teaches not what is in the curriculum, but what he feels like rambling about on that particular day, usually GOP nonsense. I signed up for Metaphysics 320; I don't think he even said the WORD "metaphysics" even ONCE in this class! Avoid at all costs.

Loved him. Took him for several different classes. Really intelligent and sweet man. Has a lot of important things to say, but you have to listen and pay attention to get it all. His way of conveying material isn't always clear, but you can learn a lot from him. Very funny and inspiring man.

Prof. Dilworth is brilliant man, but tends to ramble on about nothing. Do the readings or you are screwed, he does not explain anything at all. The exams are quotes from the texts you have to explain them and ID where they came from! He is helpful if you go to him. Basically regurgitate what he says back to him for a decent grade.

Awful teacher. I have never in my whole college expierience had such an awful professor. He was useless. He discussed nothing he assigned. Completely unwilling to meet during office hours , and paper was not even something explained in any detail.

Do not take a class with this man. Save your GPA and dignity! He does not discuss the readings in any helpful context so you are on your own. If you don't agree with his perspective in papers then you will not get a good grade. Worst professor I've ever had.

This was a very boring class for me. It was very hard to stay awake through the entire period. He went off on a lot of tangents and he wasn't very clear about how we should write our paper. Unfortunately, I ended up dropping the class. I do not recommend this professor.

I preferred receiving my first "W" grade to continuing this class. This class was not based on learning anything. You read the books at home, he mentions things about the book in no useful context, and maybe once in a while you have a shallow discussion. I wrote a paper that received nothing but a grade "Good," and didn't stick around for a test.

A weird mix of neoconservative ranting and philosophical wisdom, with a liberal amount of tangential dribble thrown in. Dilworth knows what he's talking about, but god help you if you don't like Emerson. Difficult class, helpful guy, all around enlightening time, if you can stomach his teaching style and politics.

Spends more time talking about how awesome the readings are than actually talking about their content. Goes off on pointless tangents, grades the tests (which consists completely of short essay questions) very hashly. For the love of God, don't take this class at 8AM unless caffine runs in your veins; he will put you to sleep.
