This prof comes from the industry with tonnes of real-life examples and experience. He marks fairly and is always open to students asking questions. What makes him great is that he trains you to think for yourselves, and not simply to stick your nose behind a textbook. Never leave blanks on your tests, he can't give you marks on what's not there.

Dave is a great guy. Knows his stuff, links concepts to real world examples and his past experiences. Always friendly, and isn't full of BS like other profs out there. Recommended!

His lectures are indeed very boringgg. The upside is hes a easy marker. Exams are relatively straightforward and simple. I'd recommend to take his 349 if u have a heavy course load. Just pay attention to the review slides/session before exams.

simply put; he gives the tlog program at ubc a terrible name; sure his tests are EXTREMELY easy (either questions from text or repeat from previous years) and you don't have to go to lectures because he just reads off the slides, but he is too self absorbed, gives little if no feedback on assignments, very boring lectures and is impossible to read

Nice guy, keeps it relatively simple and just wants to make sure you learn the key concepts so you can actually use them some day. (Also soft marker and test maker!)

worst instructor at ubc, boring classes, reads off the ppt fast, but when he takes long time to brag about himself. He is very biased, unfair marker.

Dave is a very nice person - but NOT a good professor. He is very fair to all his students. I found him really hard to "read" - i never could figure him out. His lectures are super boring - but the material is boring so its not entirely his fault. Overall I thought this class was going to be a joke but it ended up being my lowest mark this semester

Very good class. I love it. I just finish a midterm, which is very reasonable, I got a good mark. I love his lecture which is very helpful and very consistent with the textbook. Excellent for review. However, I thought I could get a better mark in the debate, but I only get 83.5%. He is a very fair mark and very respectful instructor. You will enjo

With all due respect, he is a very nice person and is very willing to help students (write ref letters, etc). However, the truth is that he's a terrible professor that lacks the ability to inspire students. His notes are horrible and his lectures are tedious. He's not completely easy either.

Farrell is kind of a sketch prof for two reasons. Firstly, he comes from a TLOG background which would be nice if it was a TLOG course, but it isn't. He is obsessed with it to and makes the course revolve around it. The other problem is he is ultra-ultra-conservative and his bias shines through to a point that it gets annoying/stupid

The first time i came in class, i thought i went a wrong class that is most about logistics(COMM 349). But it's COMM 394 indeed. Recommend take his 349 not 394.

Really knows nothing about government and business. Uses other prof's slides. Doesn't particularly care about teaching. Gives easy grades due to laziness. Very boring overall.

I don't think he really knows stuff about this subject, why does UBC let him teach C394? He keeps talking his own stuff that is totally unrelated to the subject. Lecturers are extremely dull.
