Lectures were sometimes confusing and the notes were unorganized, but he is good at explaining certain concepts. He is SUPER helpful when you go into his office hours . Nice guy who is passionate about chemistry and wants the class to do well. Work hard, if he sees your effort you'll be fine. Overall I would take his class again.

Dr. Hart is a very sweet guy but he needs to retire. He constantly rewrites equations because he can't remember how they really go and his exams are way too long for the 48 minutes you get to complete them! He's obviously brilliant but he just has a hard time communicating the material to his students.

Awesome professor and person in general. He is very fair with his tests except for his final was pretty tricky and off subject. I definitely recommend him. Best o chem prof at OSU, period. P.S.- He really likes mechanisms with H2SO4.

Uh... definitely not that great of a professor. How the hell do you get an A- in his class?! You have to teach yourself everything. He was a nice guy, and apparently retired, but you could definitely tell he was a bit out of touch with lecturing.

The other posts are old, this guy admitted he is burned out and retiring soon. He ridicules students and hates teaching, he is very lazy and often inacurate in teaching certain concepts. He blaims his mistakes on the students, one of the worst in the department, avoid and take with Callam if he teaches it.

I was a continuing ed student, and all I can say is that the bad reviews here come from lazy whiners who don't know how to use a table of contents or an index in a book. I was embarassed to be in this class with such losers. I aced the second midterm, and missed one question on the final. If you can read a book, you can pass this class.

Thank god this professor is retiring! His class was miserable. I worked really hard to stay up but you couldn't understand him! He seems like a nice guy but he just isn't clear when he teaches and his homework problems ARE NOT helpful! I loved 252 and was very interested in learning the material of 253...the class was just terrible!

I don't think he is as bad as everyone is making him out to be. His classes were enjoyable and if you do the homework problems you will be okay. Go to his office hours, he is very helpful with any questions that you have. I didn't think he was using a different book. His notes followed our text pretty well. Make sure you read.

I felt he was very unclear about what was important to know for this course. His tests were confusing, and he taught from another book. I thought he was a nice guy, but he really couldn't explain or relate to us, making it difficult to learn from him. He was always saying we could figure the rest of a problem on our own time. Avoid if possible.
