A beast at saxophone. This guy knows his stuff, and cares that you learn it too. Loves to talk concerts. Don't be intimidated by his swag. Extremely willing to help. Follow his daily practice guide, even if you skip some days. Learn prepared rhythms for your required proficiency. Take his class, even if it's at 8am. Made me appreciate music theory.

Prof. Hastings is one of the most energetic/fun professors I know. He is an excellent teacher, and he is also great at teaching life lessons. I highly recommend you take freshmen theory with this guy. His class is one I look forward too everyday.

What a wonderful teacher and friend! He gives great advice, both musical and life. He gets to know each student as an individual and teaches them how he thinks would best suit their experiences and personalities. Truly a unique, caring, and compassionate person.

Professor Hastings is not only a wonderful musician, but also a wonderful person. Definitely someone to look up to. If you get a chance to take him for freshman theory - take it! (Although none of the other Freshman theory teachers are bad in general). A wonderful mentor and colleague.

Prof. Hastings is an awesome guy and super laid back. He makes musicianship a pretty easy subject, but sometimes he got a little repetitive during class. However he definitely makes it so anyone can succeed if they go to class and try. If you do have questions, he is always willing to answer them. Awesome professor; definitely recommend him.

Prof Hastings IS THE MAN! Some would say he mildly resembles Sean Connery, ask him to do the impression sometime. Excellent person as well as an Excellent musician. He's got posters with his face on them. Thats how you know he's good.

I took theory with him after getting some advice from an older student. He's a cool guy, but the class can be challenging at times (but not hard). Ha also gave me a great recommendation for a study abroad program, so if you need help with anything, don't hesitate to go to him.

I had him for Music Theory. He's a cool guy, but he's not very clear at getting concepts across. He doesn't seem very prepared for class and there's no textbook, so I was really loss. However, he's very willing to help and explain things if you ask. And yes, he's very attractive for an older guy - he's got good style!

Definately very passionate about what he teaches. I was surprised to read that some people found him cold an unpersonable. He was always very fair and helpful in my class; so much so that he fell behind his schedule by quite a bit. The material was difficult, but he made it fun. The one downside is that he is so attractive it was distracting.
