He notices who is struggling and will offer you help even if you don't seek him out first. However, he can't control a class, so don't take theory with him if you like order in a classroom. He covers things very slowly but always listens to his students and addresses our concerns. You will probably learn more from him outside the classroom than in.

He is a very personable professor. But, as far as getting things done in class; much of the time it is a joke. If you want an easy-going theory class-take his class. You will learn music theory, but you need to work at it more on your own or with a classmate. If you are having a problem, don't be surprised if he laughs at you.

It's amazing that this sorry excuse for a teacher got tenure. WANTED: Trombonist who can play AND teach trombone. Will take anyone; because that would be a step up from this man. I've learned one thing though, how to teach myself.
