The class arranges the desks in a circle so that everyone faces each other. You read the chapter and discuss it the next class. This is a challenging class that was one of my favorites this semester and I'm not an English major. Dr. Hatfield is an AMAZING professor. I would recommend him to everyone. Just remember Dr Manhattan is a metaphor for us.

Challenges you to think, enjoys feedback, and this class is a discussion course so be prepared to talk quite a bit (had him for intro to comics for a humanities credit). Easy if you pay attention & read rubrics, plus hes funny and quite relaxed. At first I didnt like him, but once I understood his humor and attitude, I enjoyed his class a lot.

Best professor I've ever had hands down. He's always willing to help, email your papers to him in advance and he will critique them before you even turn them in. I found this very helpful and had a very high grade in his class. Read the comics and do the papers and you will have an A no doubt. Just make sure if you are unsure EMAIL FOR HELP!!

As an auditing member of his class, I, as a senior citizen was not only treated as a classmate but encouraged and challenged by Dr. Hatfield. His ability to infuse humor and understandable knowledge enabled me and, I'm sure the rest of the class to more than just glean enough to get by but both learn and enjoy. I'll take his classes ANYTIME!

Dr. Hatfield is an amazing teacher. He's funny, cares about his students, and makes sure that all the assignments you do are things you actually care about doing. This class isn't a writing intensive credit, but you do need to have a small paper for every class - it's simple, nothing to worry about, but is needed.

Taking Professor Hatfield's class is one of the best classes I have had. He listens and helps his students understand the material, and is willing to stay over class to help. If you mess up on assignments he will give you another chance to fix it. He is worth having and after class you will always keep what he taught you.

This man's teaching style is the future of higher education. He doesn't shove his opinion down your throat. He allows and even expects you to form your own interpretation of the material. He teaches you how to teach yourself. Very eye opening and educational. Great discussions! "Because it's red"

Let me make one thing clear: Dr. Hatfield's Introduction to Comics class is NOT an easy A. However, this class will provide you with a challenge. You will have to read and write a lot in this class, and he is not an easy grader. However, he was always willing to help me during his office hours. Awesome professor, but a difficult class.

Dr. Hatfield is a great professor. I took his Comics class and he really encourages students to lead discussions. We had some pretty great conversations come from it. Come to class having read the material, participate, and write your microthemes! He lets you take risks with your opinions as long as you can support it using material from the texts.

Hatfield is absolutely amazing! He gives excellent feedback. He's a fairly easy grader, most of your points are participation. You basically have to show up, but he's such a great professor, you'll want to go! Gives you a lot of freedom for creativity. Take his class you won't regret it.

Dr. Hatfield is the best professor I have had at Marshall so far. He let's you take risks with your writing and does not penalize you for it. I learned a lot in his class through discussion, mostly papers, no busy work. I came out of that class definitely feeling like a better writer.

Good professor. The class can be confusing at times, but he tries to make it as easy as possible for you. DO THE SUPPORT ASSIGNMENTS! They are easy and he grades them pretty easily. The major unit projects can be difficult, but if you pay attention in class and do the support assignments you will have no problem. I would recommend him to anyone.

Great professor! Easily the best I have ever had at Marshall. His style of teaching works around what you know and how you think. He really cares about how you do. That being said, it isn't an easy class. Do what he tells you to do, mimic the examples in the book, and you should do fine.

Really good professor. Explains things very thoroughly and his use of examples usually makes things crystal clear. He's a pretty nice guy who will help you in his office if you ever need it. The class itself isn't very hard, but you'll learn a good bit. I'd recommend him if you need to take this class.

One of the top five professors I've had at Marshall. Took my Senior Seminar with him. He is truly invested in his students and creates a student centered class. He let us design the course and the objectives we thought the course should accomplish. The texts he chooses are relevant and not something you'll just toss away after class. Take him!!!
