RUN WHILE YOU CAN. I was so excited for this class but David Hughes ruined it for me. He is an old man who takes the entire class to go through half a lecture (if that). Presentations are mostly pictures of him on vacation, which is nothing on the tests. Doesn't prepare you for exams whatsoever. Worst class I've ever had. Bonus: You can skip.

This professor would be an amazing Grandpa. But as a professor he's not great. His powerpoints relate to nothing he puts on our tests and if you ask him for something he tells you to read the book. You cannot really hear him and he mumbles a lot. You can pass the class easily without going if you read the book and show up for exams. Nice guy.

Powerpoints are hardly relevant to what is on the exams. Gives you sample questions for the exam, but not the answers - how do you study if you don't know whether your answers are correct? Don't even bother going to office hours - he will only tell you to read the book. Such a shame because this course has potential to be fun and interesting.

Expects architecture students to have the spare time outside of lecture to prepare for each class... ha. Very slow talker, takes all of class to cover a couple slides. Very old school, knows very little about new design and techniques. He knows a lot and is very intelligent (about traditional styles and methods). Very tough on grading wall sections

I highly recommend not taking this professor for Methods. Top things to watch out for: you'll only pass the exams if you have a previous students' from past years, his grading criteria for assignments and quizzes are numbers he makes up, he wants you to keep up with the heavy reading (I didn't, nor did anyone in the class), and tread lightly.

The most boring human being I have ever encountered. He somehow manages to make the subject of Architecture so unbelievably dry you literally will not be able to pay attention. Awful teacher, doesn't know how to present information to a classroom in a way that makes sense.

If you take his class, you mise well just give up on life. This professor is not professional, has boring slideshows that have nothing to due with the class or topic and rarely goes over anything for the tests. Which is a shame because they are your only grades. Don't take this class unless you want to find your self hating life.

The most monotone speaker possible. You can barley hear him when he talks in a room of 150 students and doesn't use a microphone. The entire class is slideshows of pictures of him on vacation around the world. You don't have to go to class to pass. He sends you all the power points and your only grades are 4 non cumulative exams.

Do not take this class if you love architecture. Do not take this class if you want to have fun, learn viable information or pass. He may be an interesting person but he is not a good professor. Avoid this class like that leftover tuna salad you have had in the fridge for three weeks.

Horrible teacher, avoid at all costs. You will not pass this class if you don't read the whole book, because all the test questions come from the book and he doesn't go over ANYTHING that will be on the test. His lectures are pointless and soooo boring. Don't bother asking him for help because he'll just tell you to read the book. Terrible teacher.

The lectures are just talking about his vacations and rambling about pointless materials that aren't even on the exam. GET THE BOOK AND BE PREPARED TO READ IT A LOT. I'm an A to B student and I am struggling. Do not take him for class. Take someone else for architecture, and not him.

I took this class for a fine arts class assuming it would be as easy as any general elective but it wasn't. Be prepared to endure boring lectures and be tested over nonsensical topics and questions. He told us one day that he was going to give everyone extra credit for showing up to class only to retract it the day before the final.

The is by far the worst professor I have had at Kent State University. I have usually a positive experience with my professors but not with David Hughes. I am a A-B student and work hard for my grades. Unfortunately this professor is rude, not helpful and sometimes offensive. I would not recommend him, takesomething else for your fine art credit.

AWFUL. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Does not teach, just shows slides. He has review days but doesn't review just adds more. He's old, monotone, and boring. Dreadful. Only grades are 4 tests and optional homework which we only got one assignment. He doesn't show you your grades. DO NOT TAKE.

Why this man is still teaching here is beyond me. The lectures are simply just photos of his vacation and do NOT cover what is on the exam. He will tell you to go find old exams to study off of and then proceed to slightly change the questions or give different options for answers making them impossible to figure out.

He's actually kind of interesting to listen to. Not very clear, but his exams were fairly easy. One time he actually printed off the exams with all the answers on them. But he's a nice guy.

The inclass lecture was a photo slideshow of his extended vacation in Egypt, while the tests were on the information the class was ACTUALLY supposed to cover.
