Comment:

One of the best professors at Altoona. He's extremely smart and talented. He co-authored a book on Morse-Bott Homology. What distinguishes him from other professors is his ability to relate new material to old material and stitch together concepts. He showed us where to download free math books which helped me enormously. What an awesome guy!

Comment:

David is a super nice guy that actually tries to teach unlike the rest of the math department. He is EXTREMELY smart and sometimes this is an issue because he'll ramble on for 20 minutes about things that no one in his class can understand. He gives easy quizzes every Friday. Although, the exams are much harder. But I would suggest David to anyone!

He's a good professor, he does expect you to know a lot of material and to know it well. Do all homework, even though it's optional it helps a lot for the weekly quizzes and exams. He's not the best but definitely one of the best professor in Altoona.

Pretty ok professor. Definitely one of the better calc professors here. YOU MUST DO THE HOMEWORK IF YOU EXPECT TO PASS THIS CLASS!! Ask him if you don't understand something. I was out for a week because of surgery, and I never asked for help on the stuff I missed. Digital version of the book is recommended as it is a very heavy text (1000+ pages).

Good professor, the only complain I have was that the quizzes were a lot easier than the exams. The exams are a lot harder, but with a tutor/office hours the class is manageable

He knows his stuff, but only wants to teach proofs, his teaching is terrible and unclear. Quizzes on friday blow, and his exams and quizzes are near impossible. Get a tutor, and go to office hours and don't expect him to curve.

TEACHER WAS HORRIBLE. talks way too fast, 20/25 dropped. his quizzes were easy but his tests were ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE. Average for every exam was 50. He was supposed to teach "business math" Math 110 but he taught us ENGINEERING MATH. On the bright side he is a nice guy and helps you out IF AND ONLY IF you go to his office hours.

Dr. Hurtubise is a great professor. Sit in the front of the class, I had no problem pulling off a B in his course. Do the suggested exercises, most of the tests/quizzes are just slightly modified HW problems. Final wasn't too bad either.

No matter what professor you have, I do not believe Calculus will ever be simple, but this professor does an excellent job at making it understandable and interesting. Not only does he go over all the material he expects you to know for test, but he also explains how you apply your work to real life. I highly recommend this professor.

In general, Calculus is alot to take in for the first time, so it seems a little unfair to say it could be an easy course. But I will say, this professor does what it takes to get the point across, and then some. You really need to do the homework, even though it is not mandatory. Great Professor!!

Definitely easy to understand in class. If you're good at math like I am, it's a breeze. If you're not, just ask for help! He'll help you understand. Quizzes were simple - just like the homework. Exams make you think a bit, but that's Calculus for you.

I heard a lot about him before I had him. Overall not bad, but the subject matter was confusing, and he pounded on theory and less on application. His exams for this class were tough, but fair, and he hints as to what to expect on the exams and quizzes before giving them, that helped, but I found the book my only way of understanding it.

Good prof. Makes it as easy as he can. DO THE HOMEWORK and you will have those same questions on the weekly quizzes. Tests are ok if you go to the review session. The final is a killer, but it's curved so that you generally get the grade you had when you went into the final. Ask him about his karate skills for fun.
