He was an excellent Chorale teacher! Patient, funny, great at keeping order...It's so sad he got sick but his replacement was very nice. Chorale is a very simple fun class that I looked forward to every time.

Janower is an excellent conductor, but chamber is nowhere near easy. It requires dedication and lots of work outside of class. If you don't know your part, he calls you out on it in front of everybody. Lots of performances outside of class, which are a lot of fun. Definitely take this course if you're passionate about singing.

University Chorale is a fantastic way to expand your musical skills. Class has made me a better sight reader, and has made my singing much better. Class consists of warm-ups, with a stretch or two, and singing the music. If you engage in the class, you should expect an A. Grades are based on attendance, show up/have fun and get your A.

Took chorale b/c I needed 1 more credit to graduate. Its a great class & the music selection was great, but just b/c its a 1 credit class, doesn't mean you can slack off. Arrive on time, bring all your music, pay attention in class, don't miss too much class & you'll be fine. Great & easy way to get an A, you won't regret it :)

He's definitely tough. You have to work hard, and he holds you to high standards, but it's worth it! He's a great director. Not available for much technical help outside of class, but you're expected to practice on your own. Overall a very professional guy, and a really fun class to go to, just a little heavy on the work side.

He's a really fun, and yet productive teacher. He makes the class fun, but you still get a lot done. He improves your skill, and makes the class interesting. Usually has good music choice. I recommend taking Chorale with him. =]

Rude, arrogant and obnoxious don't even begin to describe him. Is intimidated by musicians with comparable degrees and talent exceeding his. Is dismissive, abrupt and uses volunteers as slaves. You don't need the headache of dealing with him, and there are much better choirs in the area.
