Great Professor, replies to email very quick and very helpful. Just pay attention in class and understand the examples the textbook is not mandatory but helps sometimes. You know exactly what will be on the lab quizzes and the term tests were fair. The final was the midterms and lab quizzes combined! I used to hate math but now its alright.

Assignments are brutally difficult to comprehend, the TA was utterly useless in providing clear explanation of topics. The class average for the past 3 quizzes has been 45%-50% so maybe he should take the hint that maybe he isn't explaining the concepts very well. Avoid this prof and try and get into Thi's class.

Great professor, easily the best I've ever had at U of C. He is a spark of light among U of C professors. Didn't look at the textbook once all semester and got 100% on everything. His notes are exceptional. Tests were fair and covered only what was discussed in class. Final exam was tough, but doable if you go to every class and study a bit.

Dr. Sands is an excellent mathematics professor. He has a clear lecturing style but writes very fast. He is a bit hard to approach with questions, but is willing to help if you have given enough thought into the question you are going to ask. Assignments are hard, quizzes and tests are easy. Overall, the course was an excellent experience.

Not too bad. Notes were clear, but he wrote EVERYTHING down. Assignments got harder and harder ... make sure you do them in a group. Midterm and quizzes were relatively easy, but the final was brutal - he didn't even go through functions much and there was a whole page about them! I worked pretty hard for just a B+ ...

Great professor!! Tends to repeat things but they are the things that you need to remember to do on tests so it ends up being very helpful. If you attend class and take the notes you don't have to do much else outside of class, except a few textbook questions towards the end at the harder material.

To be completely honest, don't take the class with sands unless you completely understand the subject. I still dont even know what i learnt in this class, and I HATE CALC now!!! He's monotone so its really hard to concentrate in his class, and his notes arent good study tools.
