Love this man. Don't walk into class any less then five minutes before the class period unless you want the death stare. He has no problem stopping his lecture to watch you walk to your seat... real OG. Stories and fun facts out the wazoo

Comment:

Professor Ketcham is very rude. A few times he screamed at students in class for asking questions that he "apparently" already answered. I did exceptionally well in the class, but it did not go without a lot of work. Take-home midterm took about 25 hours in total to finish. Take home final took about 15 hours to complete. Attend class.

David Ketcham is a genius when it comes to the material, but he has no business being an educator. I have never met a teacher who is as rude to his students as this guy. During our final, we could hear him grading papers while mumbling " ughh I hate students". Worst professor I've had at Bryant, stay away.

i felt the same way as comment below. I took him last year and he made me feel like i am worthless compared to students from other universities. he will definitely lower your self-esteem. lecture materials are okay, if you are there in class and spend good time on mid, final projects, you will be fine.

He is probably my best depiction of grumpy old teachers. He has no hopes nor expectations from his students. He made me feel less important to the society and made me realize how professors feel about students in Bryant University. Perhaps we are just tuition paying customers to them. I do not recommend that you take this course unless you have to.

I'm not sure why Ketcham has so many bad reviews. He is actually super cool. If you care about your grade and the class and ask for help he will be there! He can seem grumpy at times but I enjoyed taking him. He asks the class what they prefer exam wise and tries to give extra credit. He does want his students to succeed! Be respectful and work :)

Comment:

Not too bad. He actually does a good job explaining the material, and was helpful in his office hours. However, he is rude and intimidating. Also, the HW and Exams were way more difficult than any examples taught in class. That said, work hard, ask questions (even if he gets angry), and start the exams well before the due date and you'll be fine.

Excellent professor! Challenging but gives you all the tools to succeed. Be on time,take notes on his lectures and you will do well. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS and you will have no issues. He hates when students show up late when assignments are due, type essays, and write neat for the problems. Not an "Easy A" so be prepared to work. Tells good jokes.

Gets a bad rap, but gives clear assignments to help learn the material and gave us powerpoints for every chapter. I don't blame the guy for getting pissed when people ask him to explain everything twice (because they weren't listening the first time). If you don't get something, he'll gladly explain it at his office hours.

Sure, he gives you unlimted tools to pass, but his grading is SO DUMB. My class average was out of 1100 pts, while someone else's was out of 900, and someone else's out of 1000. He's consistently rude to people, god forbid you didn't catch something he said, he'll rip you a new one. Avoid at all costs.

I don't understand the negative ratings for this professor. He gives you all the information and resources you need to learn the material and do well in the class. He's extremely reasonable with assignments and grading and genuinely wants you to do well. Id take him again in a heartbeat,hes a great teacher

Dr. Ketcham was one of the most intelligent, and helpful fin. professors I've ever had. You get out of the class what you put in. He is there to help. Ketcham, unlike most finance professors, is actually a human being and not a cyborg. Those complaining about him have clearly not taken many fin courses. He jokes around too, big deal, toughen up.

He is a great teacher and very willing to answer thoughtful questions. He had clear pet-peeves, like students who asked dumb questions and who were not prepared. Don't waste his time, don't make sarcastic comments, and show some humility - and you'll do just fine in his class. Tests are very hard, but he gives you many examples. Do the homework.

He chewed out a kid when he asked to go back and look at an equation, and literally told him he was a bad finance student. He is an old, bitter, angry man who needs to retire. People need to cut him some slack. He'll do anything for his 201 class to understand the material and get a good grade. I was petrified before taking that class but it ended up not being that bad. MANY MANY stories but it defs makes the class go by faster!

Homework is very long. He goes over in-class examples quickly, and is rude if you miss something and ask for help. I do not feel I am learning anything in this course my Excel Bible can not teach me. I do not pay my tuition for stories. I enjoy a challenging course, but this is simply a waste of my time.
