Comment:

Dr. Knutson is a nice professor who cares about his students. However, he does not put the same amount of effort into planning and organizing lectures. Very disorganized and unclear about directions, expectations, etc. Helpful vocabulary, but besides that not sure what I learned.

Knutson is a sweet, intelligent and great professor. Classes aren't too difficult. You get to practice a lot of Spanish in open discussions. He makes up for having Mantero as a professor and is probably the only reason people stay in the program.

Comment:

Dr. Knutson is a great professor. I was not the best Spanish speaker and his class turned that around through basic everyday in class discussion. Not the most difficult class but very important and helpful class for Spanish minors and majors. Would recommend to anyone, really wants to see his students do well and succeed.

Loved Knutson! I've had him for two classes at Xavier and 6 weeks study abroad and I've learned real-world Spanish! His class is super easy, almost no hw, no quizzes, and few easy tests. Even presentations are easy. He's super chill and very relatable to students. He's hilarious and always there for anything, especially class/major/minor help.

amazing class; learn a lot in class, NO HOMEWORK ever, quizzes are super easy as long as you semi-pay attention, can skip sometimes, super nice guy and funny, cares about RELEVANT Spanish and making you a better speaker; not judgmental and really works just through conversation; classes not as boring as usual Spanish classes; may let you go early

easy class. study for the two tests you should get an A if you write 3 correct things. DO NOT BUT TEXTBOOK, i ever opened it, and got an A! Big research paper due at the end of the semester, if you ask for help he is a great resource. TAKE HIM.

Knutson is a great teacher, but there is NOT enough course material for a 3 credit class. Left early every day, missed about two weeks due to his shoulder surgery and still didn't have enough material to go over. Easiest grader I've ever taken. Knows a lot of Spanish, but I would prefer to take a native speaker.

Nice enough guy, but very disappointed in his ability as a professor, especially considering he's head of the department. Read the book, because he said something factually incorrect at least once a class. Grading is completely arbitrary and poorly done, but light on the homework and only one easy project. Easy A/B, but feels like a waste of time.

he is an ok teacher. class is easy b/c there isn't much to do,but if your serious about spanish dont take him b/c u wont learn anything. its a formal review of span 201 to me. test and exams can be challenging if you don't study so keep that in mine. he hardly ever gives work sheets and busy work so if you want an esay class, take him.

He is a very nice man and I somehow do VERY well on his tests but I really don't feel like I know ANYTHING. He doesn't teach the basic concepts in class at all- he just talks. Makes it hard to study for tests. If you can teach yourself the concepts and want a FUN class- take his class!
