I have a love/hate relationship with Professor Koteras. Some days he was cool, but I don't think I'd take him again. You need to go to class all the time, or he will talk to you and take off points. Participate and he will like you. He likes to pick on kids at times, especially those who do poorly or miss class. You need to read to pass tests.

Mr. Koteras is agreat teacher with strong knowledge of the coursework. He makes himself available if you have questions or problems. His favorite phrase "everyones opinion is important". Helpful to students during the job search; he has many suggestions. Highly recommend this teacher.

Comment:

Treatment of Offenders I was a very interesting class. I learned about important concepts relating to the field of corrections, such as prisonization and alternative treatment options. One of the highlights of the class was getting to read and analyze Ted Conover's novel Newjack, which showed real life in prison from behind Sing Sing's walls.

Great professor and a professor that is willing to always help a student. His academic and professional experience shows everyday in class. His knowledge of criminal justice is as high as any member of the criminal justice department. A good one to take for any course.

He's a nice guy, however, the police in the community class tends to be more on the boring side. I would not prefer 351 unless you have high interest police discretion and probable cause. This class made me not want to be in Law enforcement as much as I used too. However, Violence In American Society was an enjoyable class and he is helpful.

Really awesome teacher! He definitely knows the material because he is a former cop. He gave quizzes & homework relevant to the subject and tosses out a bad grade (though honestly, I don't think it's necessary). I would highly recommend him and I would take any of his classes. Very fair!

Not sure what other people are referring to below...He makes class interesting and provides an opportunity for people to actually learn the material. His quizes reflect the material from reading assignments and is overall clear about what he expects. Also, it is good that he drops one of the quiz grades. Take any of his classes!
