In grade book: midterm, final paper, final exam, first quiz, participation. I thought I participated well throughout the course: did the optional online discussions, had good answers when he asked questions; only got 90/100 for participation. Have A- now, probably B after final. He's nice and likes to joke around. Movies were interesting.

Good for G.E credit. Nice workload. Not too easy, not overwhelming either. He is reasonable, approachable, and understanding. Your grade does rely on your essays so just write neatly and cohesive. You can skip some classes but not many because participation is important. He would understand if you have to do something and/or are busy.

I'm writing this a few days before the final and all we have in the grade book is two exams, a term paper, and like two or three homework assignments. There's very little room to get points. He's an insanely tough grader too, he gave ten people F's on the second exam. Don't take this class unless you're the next Steven Spielberg.

Laderman comes across as a genial teddy bear figure but he changes, in Jekyll/Hyde fashion, into a hypercritical alter ego when he grades the essays and exams his classes require. Essays are graded with a harsh pickiness and exams require recall of many details, plots, etc. Expects students to do the reading before class and participate always.

David is awesome. Only 2 complaints. I made an appointment to meet with him and he didn't show. lol. And he can be a little bit of a tough grader when it comes to essay responses. Otherwise he's great. PARTICIPATE. He kept the class fun, and he made it really easy to participate. I'm gonna be taking another one of his class, and I can't wait.

Professor Laderman is an easy going guy. He thoroughly discusses reading material and the in class films. His class is based on student feedback on everything covered in the course. So there's always a long discussion before watching any films. Easy to drop grade so study basic film plots for exams. If you talk to him he is very understanding.

This class requires a LOT of hard work if you want an A. I spent about 6 hours a week, and got an A. You have to watch movies and do response essays 5 pgs per week, but that varies...I write a lot. He wants thoughtful responses. Great feedback, worthwhile class, but keep in mind not an easy A. Recommend if you need to meet your GE requirements.

Laderman is a great film teacher! For our humanities class we had reading, which you didnt HAVE to do, but for the most part you do. I went to class every day, took good notes and listened to my peers for the book info. A couple of midterms of a couple pages. A research paper near the end. Nothing too difficult. Got an A without stressing too much.

Laderman is a really cool and laid back teacher. For the best experience in this class you really do need to keep up with the reading, but nonetheless the class is more than manageable without reading anything... The class is actually sort of fun, and is engaging if you give it a chance. Definitely a good choice if your in need of units.

Good book, good lectures/discussions of films, class is interactive. Teacher is very enthusiastic and interested in your interpretations and why. You will learn a lot about what goes on in films that you never thought of. Work is required on your part, this is not a fluff class.

I took the online class, so it wasn't as fun as an on-campus class - more busy work, had to participate online in a forum. Prof. Laderman really gives you a lot of freedom in your responses. If you read the chapters, it's not hard to get A's on the weekly assignments. In-class and essay finals were easy. Good textbook. Recommended!

Great teacher, lots of fun, clear instructions. Very straightforward. I did not make orientation so we had a private meeting and he taught me. So sweet! Do the work and you'll get an A.
