LANGSTON IS THE MAN. He is too good for this world. I love his classes and have worked with him closely. He doesn't assign a lot of work other than the reading, but the questions he asks in class are engaging, challenging, and they stretch your mind. He is also a wonderful advisor and I'm sad he is retiring. He's also a genius.

Do the readings because the class discussions and assignments are all based on them. Forces class participation and will often put you on the spot. Easy grader and tells you like it is on feedback. Swears a lot in class. Clear with what needs to be done and how to do it.

One of my favourite professors here, to be honest. Very considerate, always likes to hear our opinions, and is easy to contact outside of class. I'm looking forward to taking more classes with him next semester.

Langston is one of my favorite professors! He looks like the typical college professor, and then you hear him fumble with his keys and drop an F bomb. He's a very intelligent and insightful professor and is really good about helping students outside of class with difficult material.

Honest, open, fierce, if you're HALF asleep, you'll wake up an improved person. His overqualification is his character: he's just the person small colleges need, self-mobilized to do his part in improving humanity. It was a privilege to have attended his courses.

He's very into the subject matter and has brilliant insight on it. Take Inventing Modernism. I got a D and that's 100% my fault. I wish I could retake the class, you will learn so much. He makes it fun too, it may be hard at times but it's worth it. In the words of my best friend here: "David Langston is the man"

Professor Langston is, frankly, overqualified to be teaching at MCLA, and the college is very lucky to have him. His lectures were insightful and information dense, but interesting. Langston demands a lot from his students, but will offer help along the way if you need it, and his classes are a phenomenal educational opportunity.

Comment:
Can be very boring at times, he never lets us out on time, so we're always late to our next class (or don't have time to go to the bathroom/grab & go cart, etc.). Langston is not a mean person (such as Cardianl, for example) and he is definitely smart, but this is a core class and a 200 level... don't take it unless you want a huge challenge.

MY EXPERIENCES AT MCLA WOULD BE FAR WORSE IF NOT FOR THE TALENTED AND REMARKABLY INTELLIGENT DR. LANGSTON. MY ADVISOR AS WELL AS TEACHER FOR SEVERAL CLASSES HE IS A GREAT MAN WHO WANTS NOTHING MORE THAN TO HELP THOSE STUDENTS LOOKING TO HELP THEMSELVES. LATE PAPERS AND MISSED CLASSES AREN'T THE END OF THE WORLD IF YOU TALK TO THE PROF AND MAKE SOME EFFORT AND EVENTUALLY HAND IN YOUR WORK. ONE OF THE SMARTEST TEACHERS AT MCLA, HANDS DOWN.
