Comment:
I enjoyed this class even though I have little interest in political science; it is not a difficult class if you actually do what he tells you to do. If you actually read your topic guides (they are so much more helpful than the book) you'll be fine. If you come to class not knowing anything, he'll be grouchy, but he has a sense of humor.

I had him for Intro to US Government. Even if I had the chance, I would never take him again. However; he does find a way to throw a little humor in his lectures every once in a while.

Do not take this class. His tests are impossible. You are always wrong in his eyes. He is intelligent, but is unreasonably hard. I do not recommend him for U.S. Government.

I wasn't sure about Levenbach at first, but after having his class I began to enjoy it more and more. The lectures are interesting and he interacts with the class. Levenbach is also pretty funny and laid back in class, just be sure to have a good sense of humor, because he does like to mess with his students. There are a lot of pop quizzes.

Dr. Levenbach is an amazing professor and is highly intelligent. Reading the reviews of others, I see that most seem to find him uneasy to talk to; I would have to disagree. He is a bit odd, but it's amusing and makes his classes interesting. I would recommend him, but not if you are unwilling to put forth effort.

Comment:
Dr. Levenbach is an intelligent man. But, being his student is difficult. I worked very hard in his class, and ended up with a C. I sat in the front row, engaged in discussion, and voluntarily would answer questions. Even if you give a correct answer, he will embarrass you in front of the class. He is intimidating, and quite unfavorable.

Dr. Levenbach is one of the WORST professors I've ever had! A class of this sort is unreasonably hard. He grades very hard and nothing you say is ever right in his mind. Levenbach is never specific in terms of what could be on his test, but rather study numerous amounts of information of what could possibly be on the test. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

Comment:
He consistently gave the class a "B" or below, even on drafts of papers. Getting an "A" is this class is next to impossible; it's equally likely you will win the lottery. If you are seeking a B.A. in Political Science, this class is required and Levenbach is tenured so his grade distribution can be horrendous and the worst he will get is probation.

I took Levenbach for into to US gov and i would NEVER recommend him to any one. He lectures the whole class without a power point. The only thing he writes on the board are random words and you can't even read what he's writing. He will ask you questions in class and if you don't know it he makes you feel dumb. He's not easy to talk to. rate: 0-10

Dr. Levenbach was definitely the toughest professor I have had so far, I also have no interest in PoliSci though, so that could be one reason I really dislike the course. 3 blackboard and 3 open response tests are basically the only grades you have besides the pop quizzes. I would advise to take someone else if possible, he's a very tough grader.

This is the worst professor I have ever had. I took him for a summer course online. Very rude, no interest in helping students even if you make an obvious effort and try to get help from him. He is the toughest grader I have ever had as well. He takes off points for every little micro-error in papers. Tells what he expects after you submit work.

He's very intelligent, but you absolutely have to go to class, even though he doesn't count attendance. Only 3 tests online & 3 short answer tests in class and that's 80% of your grade. Participation is 9% of the grade. If you want to make above a D then you have to read the textbook & topic guides he puts online. He does random reading checks.

I took European Political Systems with him online. He takes FOREVER to grade things sometimes, and he's definitely NOT an easy grader. You have to read a lot, and you MUST work hard and be at your best if you want an A. He often tries to be funny & uses sarcasm.

I took Political Analysis with Levenbach. It's not an easy A by no means, but if you're there every day, do every homework assignment, and participate in class, you'll probably do well. I think I learned more in this class than I have in a very long time. I ended the semester actually enjoying the class a lot!

He's not as bad as you hear.. I had him this semester for Political Analysis. It's a ton of homework for EACH class but it's easily doable, just don't wait till the night before. Also try to get to know him, He likes people who actually show an interest in the class.

His uses sarcasm to illustrate his point. If you are a PoliSci major this is a required course. He is a good professor and we all laughed a lot in his class. If you are easily offended you will not like his class. There is a ton of homework but nothing that can't be accomplished. Do your homework and interact with the class and you will be fine.

I took him for Intro to US Government in the summer. I didnt really think it would be that bad but it was much harder than I had planned. I am an A student but I got a C in this class. He is a very hard grader and he gives examples of a good essay AFTER he has already graded and returned them. If you take his class, all I can say is STUDY!

Will force you to think outside the box and broaden your way of thinking. He will call on you if you seem disinterested or behind on the material. Don't take him if you don't want to work hard.

Comment:
Dr. Levenbach uses the Socratic Method to encourage his students to think CRITICALLY - a skill more and more people adamantly avoid. If he comes across as being rude, you obviously have no idea how the Socratic method works. He DEFINITELY expanded my ability to think critically - a gift many professors nowadays lack. If you're a slacker, avoid!

THIS GUY WAS SO RUDE! I WAS A SENIOR TAKING THIS CLASS IN ORDER TO GRADUATE AND I FIGURED A GEN ED WOULD BE A EASY GRADE, UHHH NO. HE DECIDES TO POST ASSIGNMENTS A DAY BEFORE THEY ARE DUE, THERE IS NO CLARITY IN THE ASSIGNMENTS HE WANTS US TO DO, HE IS A VERY POOR PROFESSOR WHO NEEDS TO GET MORE ORGANIZED..OR FIRED ONE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STEP IN.
