Not very good at grading. Does not go over the homework until AFTER it is due! Do not take if you want to pass. Makes me not want to be an econ minor anymore

Loomis is a good teacher. I took his Eco Energy & Pub Policy Class. He is very active in the field of renewable energy. He has a lot of knowledge. His class has very few points, 6-10 homework's which are averaged together, 3 exams, a paper, and participation. Do well on the tests or good luck... You do not really need the book.

In order to do well on homework and tests you HAVE to read the chapters. He broke up his long tests into 5 short exams this semester and it felt like we had an exam every other week. Be prepared to write a long extensive paper at the end! It will be a HEADACHE. He grades really hard but if you question him about something he'll give you your points

Overall a good professor. Tests were long but only average difficulty. Did his best to keep a boring topic interesting. Attendance is basically mandatory because of the daily 5 point quizzes. But there were opportunities for extra credit and the final is optional. 2 short papers due. Go to class and put in a little effort and a B is easy.

He's a really nice guy and very passionate about the subject, but the text that he provides is very boring and he grades the papers too hard.

Gave study guides to for all test. Lectures were very boring. he expects too much out of the writing assignments. If you don't say exactly what he's expecting he grades you down for it. He's a nice guy, but his class seemed kind of pointless. He's in the process of writing his own textbook so he provides what he has completed so far online.

Class was telecommunications heavy and very very light on economics. Only time I felt econ was used was in the writing assignments. Gives study guides and posts everything (notes/powerpoints) online. Lectures were BORING if you had no interest in telecommunications like me. GIVES CLICKER QUIZ EVERY CLASS which are basically free points

Communicates material fairly well. Doesn't always communicate what will be on the test well, though. Funny guy, but he can be a bit mean to students.

For those who rate negatively of this professor and comment that he does not define acronyms on the powerpoints should have been attending class, bc I took this class fall 2008 and for those attendees who did miss class obviously related to their responses, he actually defined ALL of the acronyms on the powerpoints IN CLASS.

Whoever said this class is not easy to study for is ridiculous. I mean he spends time going over ridiculously easy math problems and then some people just happen to get them completely wrong on the test. It's not his fault if people are bad in math. However I do wish that he would post the powerpoints PRIOR to class to take notes.

He posts his class notes online, which would be very helpfull of they weren't useless. They are full of typos and acronyms that he never defines. one of the hardest classes I've ever taken simply because the tests were impossible to study for for this very reason. AVOID!

Great teacher... realy knows his stuff. Go to class, you'll be interested. Although the readings are very long, most of the testing material is based off of his lectures, which are very easy to undertand. As an Econ major, this has been my favorite Economics class yet.
