The most motivated and dedicated teacher I had at UCR. Go to class and take notes, but more importantly, pay attention in class. This is easy to do in Geo4 because the topics are actually interesting. If you pay attention in class you will understand the concepts and be in a better state of mind studying for the tests. Overall an awesome class!

Professor Oglesby is probably one of the most passionate professors I've had so far at UC Riverside. His lectures are always mandatory because he does not post powerpoints but rather writes out notes and explains concepts during the lecture. His class is always filled and the average for his midterms/finals are always very high :)

Professor Oglesby is a wonderful professor! Since there's no book for the course, attend lecture! For additional help, check out the book on reserve. He's extremely helpful in office hours.

super easy class. I recommend it if you are looking for a GPA boosting course that requires no more work than an 9th grade Earth science class.

Frankly David cares way too much about earthquakes and not enough about teaching a class that his students can actually pass. Our entire class almost failed despite there being a promise of a "substantial" curve. GPAs were affected and students are on AP/Subject to dismissal because of him. Stay away.

Professor is Amazing, he loves his job, knows his stuff etc etc. With that being said Geo 8 is a joke. Its more math for most of the course than science. And Depending on what TA you get, you could be screwed. Plus its a 500 person lecture so 1 on 1 help requires going to office hours. If your not good at math dont bother taking this class.

This class was the best. The midterms were easy and straightforward, but you do have to actually go to class and study to do well. He does drop the lowest score between the 2 midterms. There are 5 homework assignments. He is extremely helpful during office hours so GO TO THEM it will benefit you so much.

The midterms had at most 30 questions on it and final 78. Very few questions were given and so if you missed a question it affected you greatly. I studied for the midterms and a week for the final and I STILL did poorly. Avoid! Its going to screw up my GPA now.

Super cool, easy class. For exams don't learn definitions focus more on concepts and little things like "what direction did the wind occur if they were caused in the West" . Make sure to get Greg as a T.A Julian is horrible and grades hard. 40% is homework so get a good T.A

I have been a straight A student for my two years at UCR until I came across this class. Avoid this class. The professor puts very few questions on the exams, so basically if you screw up even a couple questions, your grade drops significantly. Office hours becomes mandatory because lecture is not enough to understand the concepts.

He doesn't have a textbk or put his slides on ilearn so it's mandatory to go to class for notes. If you miss something, it affects the homework activities that he has every week. 2 midterms, one finals. Lowest midterm dropped. The grading for the activities depends on your TA so best go to the TAs office hrs to ask the answer they are looking for.

The class was difficult, but if you're willing to put in some hard work, the class is not impossible. Going to lectures, understanding the concepts, writing down notes, and doing and understanding the homework were all essential keys to doing well in this course. Also, I would recommend going to office hours because your uncertainties may clear.

It's definitely a hard class, but if you're willing to put in some work, it's not impossible to do well. Attending class, understanding the concepts well, and doing + understanding the assigned homework will all really help. Go to office hours too because many of the questions you have will be answered there. Overall, a good class.

This class was really difficult. You really need to go to lecture to understand it. It feels like common sense science but its not. He is very enthusiastic but it is really difficult for a person who is not a fan of science. be careful in choosing this class.

This guy makes the test wayyyyyy too hard. Its a breadth geo class, not a math class. There is quite a bit of math involved. No textbook, slides dont help so attendance is mandatory. The hw is worth way tooo much and they grade the hw way too hard. He puts way too few questions on the midterms(about 20 MC) so if you mess up a problem, that's 5%....

Most difficult thing about this class is having no textbook. Gave us a pdf with some key terms, but no helpful. You really need to go to lecture to understand the concepts. It's ALL about understanding concepts.. no just regurgitate definitions. There will be some math. Hw worth way too much, and grading's pretty strict. He's enthusiastic though.

Oglesby is really something. You sort of need the textbook for the class but most of the time you don't, it's just good for the homework you have. Attend lecture though and take notes on concepts. He is a big person on concepts. And he says he doesn't quiz you on trivial things but he does, so know some trivial stuff about SoCal.

The class is extremely boring first couple weeks, but it gets more interesting the longer the course goes. Tsunamis, Earthquakes, Tornadoes, all interesting stuff. SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Easy A? Not this class, wayy too much home. Discussion has a required "Prep Sheet"(notes on lectures, etc) and a couple hours of homework each week.

Great teacher! Lectures can be a bit boring but he is enthusiastic and knows what he's talking about. His tests are tough and the TA's grade extremely hard and aren't really that helpful.Overall his class was pretty cool minus the TA's and their discussions
