His effort was not wasted on me. I get it. He's an amazing brain. I don't know how he can keep all that in his head and reiterate it again and again. He uses the dialectic to teach, which is very uncommon in the modern academic setting. It is a lost art. I wish he hadn't stopped talking to me when I started having trouble with the university.

Owen is an interesting guy. Knows alot and very opinionated- tries to convince students -not- to teach. Class was almost always discussion-based. Students were graded on two 5 page papers, a group presentation of a book, and a book report of it. Attendance is not taken. A HUGE number of books/coursepacks are technically required. Reccomended.

Owen is a great guy, very smart and with a lot of insight into the future of American education. Assignments (all 4 of them) are easy, do the reading and come to class and you're good to go.

His class is good. He makes you think but you only have four assignments. The rest is a lot of reading. Sometimes the discussions are a little confusing, but Prof. Owen is a nice guy so don't be afraid to ask if you need help or have questions.

I LOVED this class. The material is difficult but if you work, whole worlds open And Dr.Owen is a wonderful teacher who loves the material and who makes you love it too. Some people probably would hate this class with him because it (gasp) really makes you think, but if you want to learn and grow, this is the class and the instructor for you.

Those who rate this prfessor poorly don't understand what he is trying to get you to do. He never really answers anything but insteads strives for YOU to answer it. he wants the student to form their own opinions about a topic instead of forcing his on to the class. If you take the time to listen to what he says you'll get a lot from this class.

This guy is crazy. He is very opinionated and talks about many things that make no sense. He tries to make points that in the end have no point. He talks about Chicago like it is the best place on earth, and apparently living here means that we suck. Anyway, I really don't enjoy his class.

This teacher is odd. He is very opinionated. His class is very very boring and its easy to just not go. I would recommend going about 1/2 the times tho because he almost grades you on your attendance, he won't learn your name, he just has a paper with everyones picture. DON'T HAVE TOO MUCH FUN!

This is the easiest class in the world. I never went to class, never read or even purchased half of the books and still came out of the class with an A. All you have to do to pass the class is read cliff notes on the books (which can be hard to find) and make sure you understand the "main point".

Prof. Owen is very knowledgable, helpful and irritating at times. His classes either force you to shake your head and wonder what the hell or you shake your head and wonder WHY the hell. Although he may seem to have an agenda, at times, what prof doesn't?

I loved this class and I love Prof Owen. He's a cool dude and, yes, he goes on tangents for awhile, but who doesn't. He REALLY cares about people. Also, on the ease of the class- I hardly went, barely read anything and have a SOLID A.

In my opinion, he doesn't have a good grasp on reality. He told my class to go a head and let our kids try extasy or herion if they wish. I am liberal, but he is just crazy. Also there are 9 books for this class, other teachers use one. Major expense.

I really enjoyed this course. It was challenging because he forced you beyond the correct answer. You have to put thought into it and develop your own ideas. It's really helpful and I think he's a great teacher.

Horrible class.. boring, lots of reading, prof is unclear. He's a cool guy and genuinely tries to do his best, but for some reason, falls short. Several papers and a group project.
