Great instructor! I respect what he says. Went to him for advise a couple of times. My major is Accounting and Payne was asking about the classes I was taking and had taken, then informed me I was only a class away from an AA in communications. My counselor didn't even notice. I am registering for one of his classes again this semester.

taken him twice, intimidating at first but really nice and funny. not too much work because you spend most of the time watching other peoples debates and you only do 4 official debates. great teacher who wants to see you succeed just listen to his criticism he knows what hes talking about

Dr Payne himself is an AMAZING guy, always entertaining, full of great ideas, and VERY helpful. The grade however is so entwined with your group, it is essential you work together and get along. So the first few days of class are the most important! If only I had fully understood this the first day! Attendance is MANDATORY, he is always watching!

This class is all about being there everyday. Even if you don't read the small assignments that are given through the text book, you can pass. Turn in all your flowsheets and do all of your debates. Reguardless if you lose or not you will pass the class. David is very open to talking about grades during his office hours. He makes time for you.

Dr. Payne is a character! He gets very animated about current events and can be intimidating. He lectured off of notes he has typed out and projects it on the screen. He does some explanation, but I don’t believe I gained much from the lectures. I was marked off points on assignments and did not receive feedback on why. Nice guy, okay teacher.

good teacher, can be a little intimidating at first, but once you get used to his style he is cool. has good sense of humor. tests are right out of the book and he gives you a study guide for each test. if you follow the study guide his tests are easy. do the speeches and assignments and show up to class and you will do fine.

David (not Dave!) is full of 'current affairs', well spoken, but too much negative news of the day..... can be a flirt.... good class.... plays favorites; probably best speech teacher at Butte.

Dr. Payne is intimidating at first. He is very helpful with the critiquing he gives after each PowerPoint group presentation. The book is mainly needed for the end of the chapter questions and movie analysis. I didn't read the book at all. Overall very knowledgeable guy who may talk a little too much at times.

Mr. Payne was a pretty nice guy and is supper intelligent about random things . Ask for his opinion on the topics you'll be doing your speeches on . If he is interested you'll get a better grade . Study for his tests there easy and strait form the book . I got an A showed up to classes studied a little for the exams and gave all my speeches on time

David is a wonderful teacher. He gives off the intimidation factor, but he really is a sweet man. Passed his class with a B because I didn't attend two other classmates' presentations. Just attend the presentations and do the minimal assignments he requests and you'll pass with flying colors

For someone who has a phd in communications he horrible at communicating. All of your assignments will be given with no instruction or ruberic with the exception of presentations. Also he will never tell you when assignments are due you must memorize that syllabus. On the plus side he is a very easy grader.

I think he's hott lol :3 He's a bit older tho and has a lot of wisdom about the world, period. He's very passionate about so much, but i think he needs a bit more depth as a person. He's very informative, fair and caring. A moderately hard grader. Tests are easy-ish. I'd recomend him if you want a positive experience. mhmmm fo sho homies :{D lawls

Homework is 4 speeches, 2 outlines/2 written speeches (which are of the 4 speeches given). He's pretty fair, just be sure and talk to him, he tries to be funny but once you get past that, he's a cool guy. Ask him about how healthy milk is!!

The teacher acted like he was a hard grader but he's not. I got an A wow. 4 speeches just follow the outline in the book what ever he thaught that week include it in your oral speech. Ask him questions if you don't understand he helped me a lot. Odd teacher but EASY.

For a speech class.. it could have been MUCH worse.. did a great job of helping the class feel comfortable and his critiques were dead-on.. by the end my public speaking skills felt much improved
