He's currently at UMB. There's only a midterm and a final and in order to stay on top of the reading, you'll need to read one chapter each week of class because he will discuss the readings. He lectures the entire class but doesn't necessarily encourage questions or discussions among students; he pretty much just lectures until class is over.

Lectures are boring and he is obsessed with himself. Nobody in the class ever got to speak a single time through the entire semester and he never even bothered to learn our names. He could easily turn anybody off from sociology so be aware. Midyear and final contained a lot of info.

There's only a midterm and a final but they're kind of hard. Paid no attention to any class, never opened the book and found myself on Twitter for a majority of the class and managed to get a B on both tests. Highly recommend to people who have no interest in the subject but have common sense.

This man actually gives great lectures if you tune in and listen but they are really long and thats all he does. He is very smart and tells you the honest truth about the subject. Only two tests the entire semester so your grade really counts on that and attendance. Tests weren't really that difficult if you took notes. Interesting, good man.

great man. he has a bit of and accent is can be soft spoken so it is important to pay attention. he only gives a mid term and a final so there not really room for error. if you dont understand something or he isn't clear make sure you ask. if you pay attention and do what is asked its a pretty straight forward class. i would take him again

Reza is a great man. I took him for Intro to SOCIO and Social problems. He has a mid term and final (also a paper in problems class). He is very nice and will help you if you need it. Friendly and never in a bad mood, if you study you will do fine. Would take him again.

Highly recommend taking this professor. Only has a mid term and a final, however if you attend all of the classes, pay attention, take notes, and study, exams are easy to pass. If you're not sure of something, knows multiple ways to explain something, my favorite professor by far!

I enjoy his class very much. He mostly just lectures, however if you ask questions he is more than happy to answer them. He does have a thick accent but after a few classes you get used to it and he is very understandable. He will get to know everyone's name and is really passionate about the subject. I highly recommend taking his class.

Took him for social problems my freshman year. He is a really nice guy but the class is not very entertaining. He lectures from the book during the class and comments on it. Honestly, the class was extremely easy. If you take notes and actually try you will get an A. Just study the book with class notes and theres nothing to worry about

Nice guy if you stay after and talk to him he's very passionate, but he's not a great lecturer. My strategy that seemed to work pretty well was just to ignore him in class do the book work during the lecture and met with him when you have to clear up things you don't understand.

This man is very difficult to understand, and is not the best teacher. He has a very strong accent and basically rereads the textbook as a lecture. His class is based on two exams, nothing else.

The class was a lecture for the entire semester, only two grades was the mid-term and final. Studying is needed if you want to get an A but if you're happy with b's or c's then you really just need to look over vocab. He's a nice guy but hard to understand and the lectures are very boring, most of the class was on facebook the whole time

I think many of these comments are much too harsh. The class is very easy, and though the lectures can be a little long winded and the teacher has an accent, I had no trouble undestanding anything he said.

As long as you show up you will do very well in this class. He allows two excused abscences. He has an accent but speaks very clearly. I enjoyed the class overall and got an easy A.

Not awful. Nice enough guy but is very boring. It's not impossible to understand him, you just have to be paying attention. Hardly used the textbook (there's review at the end of each chapter you can just copy notes from). I barely studied and I got a B+ on the multiple choice mid-term. Grades based on attendance, the mid-term, and the final.

Comment:
I think many of the ratings for Professor Kefayati are unfair. Yes, he gives you 2 tests and yes, attendance is mandatory... However, he is also very well versed in his area and speaks with clarity and lucidity. His lectures can be elementary but I think that that is more of an accommodation for the fact that he is teaching an intro class.
