I'm a senior, he's the toughest prof I've had by far. If you're not good at memorizing exact definitions, you won't do well. If you got one word wrong, he took points off. Ridiculous. Everything is dated too, needs to update the materials. If you schedule an appointment, he's sort of rude about it. I put all my energy into that class. AVOID HIM!

Not a fan. He means well but he is NOT accommodating or understanding to students. Prepare yourself for a long semester with him.

Study questions did not match book we used. Syllabus was out of date, said the quizzes we had would match the quiz book that came with book. This did not exist, we had the new version of the book. Final is 40% of the grade, no study guide for it, no advice from him other than look over the 500+ vocab words and 14 chapters we covered all semester

Yet another reason I switched my psych major. I always thought I was doing well in this class but then it turned out I wasn't. He's hard to approach with problems and not very flexible. A lot harder than I thought it would be.

Rainey is a good teacher. He explains things very well and always asks if everyone understands what they are doing. Tough grading on paper. Not easy to get a hold off outside of class. Interesting course though and he is very knowledgeable.

Dr. Rainey is awesome, but his classes are tough. For the practicum, you must write 2 page diaries every class, a huge 15-25 page paper that is harshly graded, and work at your site 10-15 hours a week on top of all that. Class meets once a week. If it wasn't for Dr. Rainey being awesome, this class would be bad. No tests, quizes, or exams though!

Psychopathology was my FAVORITE class at JCU.He kept it VERY interesting, and he is an experienced, intelligent man.He is not easy..quiz every week, and hard grader on paper.I did not do too well on the paper and still got an A in the class. Do well on midterm and final by studying notes thoroughly.I learned so much and enjoyed his class!

Dr. Rainey is a straightforward professor. The lectures incorporate all the material covered in the book, but reading the book is recommended for the tests, which can be difficult if you don't study the material. His PS 101 class is slightly more challenging than other intro-type classes, but you learn a lot. Class activities are captivating.

This was the easiest class that I have taken at John Carroll. The tests are straight out of the book, and very simple. Theres no homework either. Take this class for intro to Psyc.
