Comment:

Before taking Dr. Rieck's class, I absolutely hated chemistry, but now I love it! Dr. Rieck is very enthusiastic about chemistry. The class requires a lot of hard work, but his exams are fair, and his class has to be one of my favorite classes I've taken here. This class made me contemplate changing my major to chemistry!

I was horrible at chem and actually failed his first exam but I went to his office hours and help sessions and ended up doing really good in his class. I would highly recommend Dr. Rieck to anyone hes an amazing professor.

Dr. Rieck is my favorite professor. Chem 121 was way easier than 122 but that is just the class itself. You have to study a lot for both the exams and quizzes. Dr. Rieck was always available to help and is very caring. Go to every class, go to SI, study hard, and you will do fine. Even though it is a hard class, Rieck made it easier to understand.

Comment:

Best proffessor I've had at SU. Chem 121/122 is an overall hard class and you definitely need to study but he does a very good job of making complex topics easy to understand. Also, exams are super easy but he makes it very apparent how to study and prepare for exams to do well. Very helpful, makes lecture funny and very caring.

His exams/quizzes are a complete surprise from what you learn in lecture. He is a really tough grader and his exams/ quizzes/homeworks are just really hard in general. I heard he wasn't this bad in chem 121, but for chem 122 his coursework is much more difficult.

Dr. Rieck is an amazing chemistry professor. You do have to study but if you use the online homework as practice you will learn a lot. He also gives practice exams and will answer any questions you have prior to a test. His lectures are always very interesting and he is very energetic. You will have online homework and quizzes once a week.

Dr. Rieck is an amazing teacher. He doesn't take attendance but has clicker questions each class that counts towards a quiz grade. He puts up samples tests before each exam that are very helpful. If you do the extra practice he puts up online you will be fine. He is a very clear professor and a fair grader. Exams will be difficult if u don't study.

Dr. Rieck is such a great teacher and is so willing to help anyone that needs it. He's extremely educated in what he is teaching, so you'll really learn a lot after this class. His exams are just like his practice problems and sample exams. If you pay attention in class it's an easy A, you don't really even need to use the textbook!

One of the best chemistry professors at SU. Lectures are clear and understandable. Definitely go to office hours if you have a question about anything! You have to study to pass the class. He gives practice exams which are very helpful. Do the practice problems in the book. He's willing to help students and loves when people show up to office hours

Dr. Rieck is an incredible teacher. He makes sure to give practice problems and tests to ensure you do well on his exams, I never got anything lower than an 85. He replaces your lowest exam grade with your final, if you do better on it. He's funny and is often available for extra help. I am definitely taking him for Chem 122.

Dr. Rieck is honestly your best choice for chemistry. Yes I failed but that was in NO way his fault (unfortunately I can only blame myself for that one). He gives quizzes every Friday which could make or break you, along with a lot of homework which is easy and boosts your grade. I am retaking the course and I am 100% enrolling in his class again.

he is extremely funny, and teaches from power point, but explains topics very well. he studies how students learn so he is a very effective teacher. you will only do well if you study. you need to know the poly atomic ions. You don't want to miss class because his lectures go further than the slides.

Dr. Reick was a great teacher. He puts up a practice exam online that is almost identical to the exams given in class. If you do the online homework, do some practice problems, and go over the practice exam, you will be golden. I maybe opened the book twice

Dr. Rieck is an amazing professor. you can tell he is really passionate about the subject and really wants all his students to pass. his lectures are very good, and very clear and he works through multiple problems with you in class. he also puts a lot of useful info online. I'm taking him again next semester

Dr. Rieck is a great teacher. He makes the class interesting. He does like to give pop quizzes and his tests are tough, but as long as you do the homework, read the chapters, and show up to class, you'll do well.
