Comment:
I had received a 5 on AP Calc AB in high school. Did that help? no. Dr. Rollins is a very nice professor and forgiving at times. But his lectures are very boring and not helpful. He gives very tough examples and runs through them fast, while also making many mistakes and doesn't explain the problem for your understanding.

Taken both Prob and PDE's with this man. Super smart professor and super nice. Caring on my grade both times. His HW is normally out of the textbook and is nice to except it late. He knows his material very well and even though many of the lectures were boring he tried to make them interesting. I recommend him highly, he a smart and caring person.

Honors version is 2 hour long but he doesn't read entirely from the powerpoint, just uses it to explain the concepts. Then proceeds to spend rest of class doing examples and explaining them. Yes he makes mistakes but he's human and appreciates when students point out his mistakes. Nice guy, doesn't check attendance and lets out early sometimes.

Classes were nearly 100% lecture - not helped by the long run time of the class itself. Very easy to get distracted during class. Assignments were done through webassign - which wouldn't be bad if there weren't so many of them. 2-3 20+ problem assignments per week. Grades aren't posted online until the end of the semester.

Not terrible, but seemed to lack enthusiasm for the class. He is good at giving a heads up on what will be tested. Do the homework and understand the material, and he won't purposely throw any curveballs.

Unfit to teach grad-level courses. Covers only basics in class instead of navigating students through the more difficult aspects. Unclear expectations on exams and HW. Rarely answers e-mail. Don't buy the book, you'll never use it - find more useful items on the internet. Easy teacher, but you won't learn a thing.

Best explainer in the whole Calculus division. Made Calc III easy. Last few weeks of class we had a different instructor so my grade fell, but Dr. Rollins' time teaching ensured complete understanding.

Nice guy, but burns you on the tests. Acts very uninterested in being there. The tests are open book, but that will help you none whatsoever. Can be difficult to talk to or get help from.

Be careful. Just because you can complete the assignments doesn't mean you'll do well on the exams. His exams expect a high level of knowledge. It's doable, but you will have to work at it. Tests are open book open notes, which means they are extremely theoretical in nature.

He was a good lecturer. He was always prepared. Everything he wrote was crystal clear and his presentation was solid. The grades you got were the grades you earned. He was never in his office though, I went to his office multiple times for "office hours" and he was never there.

Horrible teacher. Had him for half a semester in summer and he was as unhelpful as a teacher can possibly be. Especially for a very unusual class.

I took Dr. Rollins for Logic and Proofs and got an A. It was a Tegrity class, so you did not have to attend class. He can be a little boring, but it's most of the subject material that makes it that way. If you do all the homework and listen to every lecture, the class is so easy. Dr. Rollins is so nice, definitely take him!

I took Calculus in HS, so the lectures were really boring for me and I didn't really go except before the tests. In the lectures I did go to, Rollins explained the concepts nicely, but when he put it to application, he made mistakes and just brushed them off. If you have taken Calc before, I say go for it. If not, I wouldn't recommend Rollins.

I must say taking calculus in high school DID help alot and made this an easy class. Alot of tests though, one written and one skills online every other week. Attending lecture is not mandatory but MAKE an effort to go to every single one, especially before tests he tells you what is going to be on tests...HINT HINT..go to lecture :) Got a B :)

Rollins is the better of all the calc teachers, but its still a hard class if you're not a math genius or havent taken calc in HS. You only need to study about 2 days before a test for a few hours and your able to drop an in class and online test

Dr. Rollins is very helpful. You can tell that he wants you to succeed in his class. Go to his office hours if you need help, he's always wiling to help. He's an approachable professor. Tests are definitely fair

Rollins speaks very clearly and always maintains a good attitude. Calculus isn't easy no matter who you take it with, but he does his best to clarify. He is also probably the only Calc professor that speaks fluent English, so take him.

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE, He is not very helpful and the TA pretty much suck as well. Lectures are only 50 mins three days a week and then you have a TA session for 1hr and 50 mins to a stupid project and the TA's don't help at all. The exams are made up by the TA's and they don't resemble problems in the notes. Take calculus as a transient student!

I had him for Calc 1 and I think he's a really great professor. He truly wants you to do well. He's very knowledgeable and informative. Tends to ramble a bit though. For the mathematically challenged (like myself), calculus is a hard class. You will pass if you put time and effort into practicing problems and understanding the material.
